what flywheel to use for 6spd swap?
just wondering would the 6speed flywheel and clutch etc bolt on to an EG33? or do you have to use 5speed clutch and flywheel up to the 6spd and EG33?

you can use the 5mt clutch and flywheel for a 6mt but your disk area is smaller and has less clamping force.
Personally I use stock flywheels as I don't like lightened ones... but thats just me Tom |

Re: what flywheel to use for 6spd swap?
Perhaps because light flywheel will dampen the "feeling/sensing" while shifting due to our heavy cars?
Tom, you also went back to stock clutch right? Or are you still using the six-puck? -Sov

I don't like lightened flywheels because reducing the rotating mass of the flywheel can actually change the characteristics of the engine and enhance the "mt stall" due to its ability to not only speed up faster(w/o load) but slow down faster as well. That and I trust my beefy flywheel spinning at 7000rpm not some piece of aluminum Tom |

Talk about a fun car to drive. Definitely the hardest car to drive

Quote:
I think a heavier car like an SVX really needs a flywheel with some heft. Low inertia makes starting from a standstill a bi*ch with a heavy car. Makes the day-to-day stop and go traffic very unpleasant. On Jack's Impreza with the EG33, a lightweight WRX chromoly 5-speed flywheel works fine. But that car weighs +/- 2800 lbs and has 4.11 gears. And you seldom do standing starts while road racing. |

Re: what flywheel to use for 6spd swap?
I think my car only stalled once after coming to a stop while pushing the clutch in. It very rarely happens to me with a normal weighted flywheel.
