Windshield issues

Im having trouble locating a windshield molding for when I go to replace the entire shield. No one wants to cut it out, because they cant find one either, and the only place that offers them is subaru. Of course subaru would sooner screw you for $2000 to get their windshield with the molding already atttached. I mean what kind of company would sell the back weatherstrip for $35 but not offer the molding seperately? The glass itself is only worth $175, so I guess they want me to pay $1825 for the molding and 2 hrs labor. HA get real.

Has anyone else had a similar experenice? How did you get around this bs?
Is there a post like this you could direct me too?

I appreciate any help.
thx.
Ken

Either get a used windscreen or chump up and buy the OE replacement from Subaru. No one makes the aftermarket glass or molding as they ONE piece and never to be seperated. So... you need a whole new piece of glass

I can get the winshield glass no problem. However if they damage the molding when they cut out the old shield, ill be up the creek.

Any competent glass guy should be able to make his own gasket for the SVX. It isn't rocket science and is actually quite simple. Granted it won't be original looking 100% but most will never know.

I had my windshield replaced without the moldings, doesn't look bad. The shop used a special type of caulking around the windshield. It's guaranteed for life.
