Windshield Fogging Up

Has anyone ever had a problem with their windshield fogging up excessively when you activate the defrost? Mine just started getting foggier and foggier when the defrost is on. I strongly suspect that the heater core is leaking and the coolant is evaporating in the duct work and then condensing on the windshield.

Is it a big job accessing the heater core?

Try cleaning the inside of the glass and try using the A/C to take up the humidity.

The glass is already clean and it's too cold outside for the A/C to kick in. It's fogging up way too fast for there not to be a source of moisture being introduced into the system.

That is what my Outback is doing and I can smell antifreeze. The heater core was leaking in it. I put some stopleak in it and it helped. I will replace the core this summer.

As long as it's above freezing the A/C will work while the defrost is on.

Yes, it is time to fix the heater core. I had a mechanic do it last year on mine.
