transmission pan mods
Has anyone built a custom tranny pan? I have seen some for GM models that have tubes and deeper pans etc. Im considering sectioning a old pan maybe an inch around the sides for more fluid capacity when I get a new transmission. Tell me what you guys think about this idea

and the prize goes to Todd for having the correct answer!
the pan has been holding up fine for almost a year since I installed it. One of these days I'm going to install the trans temp gauge to see what my total system (the finned pan +PermaCool filter + B&M cooler in the wheel well) has done for trans temps. -Bill

But Tom, note that the fins are welded on a STOCK pan -Bill (making a mental note that "stock" is a state of mind not always shared by everyone....)

i think that their purpose is for cooling the tranny oil, but they should be made and welded by aluminum...

Can you actually weld dis-simmilar metals? Wouldn't you get galvanic corrosion?

you can weld dissimilar metals, but they wouldn't be as strong as welding dissimilar metals...
