Thanks for your diagnosis of the engine w/o having a lot of info.
I am not sure about the dealers mechanic since the subaru dealership changed again. I don't no why Subaru does that here. Since my first new Subaru in 1985 they changed 4 times and I did not have a problem with the first 3 who had well trained mechanics and They treated me well. I don't want to judge the new mechanic yet as I don't no all the details but they are new staff and it's a new Subaru Dealership and I have questions like the ones here. I am now really more than ever thankful to the SVX Network. If you read this, I can tell you that the Rad. and the front plastic covers were not replaced because that would have cost more $ and then they would have to be removed again$$.the front is open. Can I tell if the belt is alingned? I though if I can't resolve the problem then in the summer I would start by checking the compression. We have snow on the ground here now. It's interesting what you said about the cam shafts not being aligned because it's things like that which make me wonder if the engine work to date was done properly. I mean had I left the SVX i'm sure they may have done a more comlete diagnosis but I would not have had $ to pay as the cost just kept accelerating. Bye for now...........Ralph
