That's definitely what the horn was invented for. I hope you let that idiot have it.

Any of you guys ever see those older world's scariest Fox specials? The one about car crashes showed a moronic tow truck driver literally backing up across three lanes of highway traffic and then getting plowed into. Very reminiscent of what you described.

Glad you are OK Larry

Here in Ireland [and England!] it is illegal to turn off at any of those emergency and police turn-offs. Think about it: You are turning off one fast or overtaking lane[ so slowing down] and expect to interpolate yourself into the traffic on the other side, also via the fast lane? Suicide driving. Is this not illegal in the States?

On a related point. How is it that people driving slowly in the overtaking lane will never presume you want to pass them unless you drive all over their rear bumper? That is the way they drive here. There could be a mile of clear inner lane, but they won't pull into it unless you crawl all over their trunk lid. Then they pull over, let you past, and pull back into the outer lane again, and resume their saunter.

Are the loiterers without intent [or a clue] as bad in the States?

Joe

Glad you're OK, Larry. I hope you checked your shorts when you arrived at work. That could have proved embarrassing.

Yes, it is illegal to use the u turn lanes unless it is a fire or police vehicle. The wreakers us them all of the time too. It sounds like this guy wasn’t very careful. It is also illegal to pass on the inside lane, so if they are in the fast lane and won’t move over, it tends to make for a bad situation. Many who drive so slowly in the fast lane think that they are a pace car and will try to slow traffic down to what they think is a safe speed. The fast lane is only for passing other cars, and you can get a ticket here in WA State if you are just driving in the fast lane.
