Help Please - Window Switch Auto Up/Down Feature

I just bought a switch cluster from a 92 with about 60k on it. I can feel the notches for the auto up and down when I move the switch, but neither feature works. What could be the problem? I totally disassembled the switch and all looks to be in order inside.

I am replacing a switch that the auto up/down feature didnt work on either, but on my old one you cant feel the notches.

What am I missing?

Mike

Hi Mike

I know I just did this. The part that breaks is inside the part you touch with your finger the switch toggle. Take the toggle switches off the assembly. Move that white plastic arm that goes into the slide switch with your finger while holding the switch toggle still. You will see that it is not moving as a unit.

John- It actually is moving as a unit. I tried this on my old switches, and it does move seperately, but the new unit i just got is working just fine.

Mike - I don't know then. If the switch isn't cracked I don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. Sorry

Ive got one for ya...

my auto up and down, works FINE, if I take the switchs out of the door..

ie: hold them in my hand, and work the switches....

then I put it all back together.. auto DOWN works.. auto UP doesnt...

take it back apart.. and WALAAA.. it works in my hands..

It could be that the switch has cracked, as said above, and when you got it out of the door holes, there is enough travel to allow the switch to move a little further and then it works.
