Question **Tweeters** A question for Audiophile SVX'ers

My '96 has no tweeters in the dash. I opened up the covers and there were wires, ready to accept tweeters.

I have scoured the site for info on this, but haven't been able to find out if crossovers are necessary as the car is already pre-wired.

Any recommendations on replacements? I see that Crutchfield and other places sell kits that have rear/door/dash tweeter setups.

Thanks for the help and the GREAT info throughout the site!

Guesses:

It may have been that the tweeters were shot and were removed before you got the car?

Perhaps the previous owner replaced the door speakers with 2-way speakers?

The L's and LS's without the CD player did not have tweeters.

If you go with new speakers (especially components) they will come with a crossover.

Check out the speaker replacement how-to for some useful info.

The tweeter covers still had the plastic intact, so I am pretty sure that there were never any in there.

The car is an "L", but has many of the LSI features, including premium Stereo/CD, leather interior (gray). I need to do some reasearch on this car....it almost seems like it is half LSI, half L!

I ordered some replacement tweeters from alltronics.com They are the same rating as stock and will fit in (I hope) once you pop them out of the plastic mount they come in. You will need to add a 2.2uF 50V capacitor in between the blue wire and the speaker.

When I get my tweeters, I'll take pictures and do a how to.

Oh, the speakers are part number 99V003 at a whopping $1.95 each.
