Thumbs up Jae 2006

Everyone

Here is the first info about JAE 2006 from Claire. I will keep everyone posted as to further updates. Seems like a long way off, but it's only 6 months in reality !!

Joe, or other mods, again can we have this as a "stuck" thread.

Phil.

Japanese Auto Extravaganza (JAE) 2006 is confirmed!

Last year we had over 3500 club cars and 2006 promises to be even bigger with more clubs registered already.

For 2006 JAE will be staying at the new, bigger venue, The East of England Showground. But for 2006 we now have even more to do with more activities for clubs, more activities for enthusiasts and better facilities.

JAE 2006 will take place from Friday 21 July 2006 to Sunday 23 July 2006

Last year we proved the new, secured venue is large enough to hold ALL car clubs/traders and have a designated camping areas. We know we did not get everything right and so have made some changes for this years event. Now there will be separate, smaller trade areas, dedicated autojumble, even more camping space, a fun fair, fireworks, film show, disco and a heck of a lot more! But we will still have the relaxed, friendly atmosphere, chilling out by barbecues and generally having a fun time messing about with all things Japanese and wheeled!

It's official! JAE is the largest Japanese Car Show anywhere in the world!

Detailed information about this year's event will go out in February. But, if you want some more information use the dedicated JAE forum at www.japcarclub.com/jae this website will also be updated regularly to keep you abreast of information and developments for 2006.

If you would like more information please contact Claire Williams and we will be happy to assist. Details are as follows:

Thumbs up 2006 meeting?

Thanks for keeping up to date with this Phil.

Good to know the dates, so we can plan.

Moving tangentially along, I was wondering if everyone is happy to use the JAE as the focal meet?

I know it has a lot going for it. It's big. It's central. It has a lot to interest family members if they are interested and come along. It has comraderie. It has the bonus of seeing other clubs, other cars. This, and much more.

The only reason I ask the question is there was a lot of fun when we organised our own events too. In particular, we got to drive in convoy and visit some interesting places. This aspect is missing if we are camped in JAE for three days.

Any comments? Negative or Positive?

Thread is stickied Phil.

Joe

Details of the event

Ok guys, I've received more from Claire about JAE 2006.

I'll not type out the whole thing, I'll try and get it scanned at work next week and upload it.

The synopsis is : Cost for the pitch is the same at £1 per car for the weekend. Cost of entry appears to now be a flat rate of £20, whether you attend one day or all weekend, and includes camping.

We can have a short piece in the official show guide if we write approx 50 words and submit it for review.

The final date for submission for bookings is June 30th, so plenty of time to decide what we're doing this year.

Best regards to everyone.

Phil.

Phil

I am looking ahead at my holiday plans, and I am including JAE as one of my trips at the moment.

As you are dealing with the correspondence with the organisers, could I suggest a couple of things?:

First and foremost, last year's stand was too small. It was good in many ways, but considering the small cost of a plot three or four times the size, definitely too small.

Next, as we were right beside the gate, it meant that everybody saw us, we were easy to find, and quick to get away. On the negative side, we were covered in dust, because every car coming and going passed by us. So I think we could look for a stand farther in, this year. Do people agree?

Were you going to scan up and paste some detail?

Thanks

Joe

Hi de hi,
If it's feedback your looking for then yes, a better position would be great and definately away from the dusty track.
If the turn out is as enthusiastic a bigger plot wouldn't go amiss, and I for one wouldn't object paying more for the pleasure!

Scanned documents (at last!!)

Ok everyone,

I've scanned the docs from Clair and put them in my locker in a folder called JAE2006. We still have some time to make our minds up about taking a stand, the final date to let Clair know is 9th June.

Speak soon.

Phil.
