I read the data on the small car site about there shift kit, It sounds interesting and the price is not too bad. My question is, does anyone have it installed on their SVX? If any does, could you post the pros & cons of both the installation and the performance improvement or pealty with this kit?

Both Harry Newman and I have the shift kit installed. The installation is fairly straight forward and gave neither of us problems with installation. It is a well-designed unit and has not given us any trouble.

When driving normally, you do not even know it is there. But under hard acceleration there is a definite firm shift between 2-3 and 3-4. I think Harry and I think it was a worthwhile investment. Sould definitely help the tranny.

I agree with John. The shift kit is great. You can adjust it for much firmer shifts or soften them up. Defnintely worth the cheap price if you like firm shifts and you want to drive in "3" during autocross or aggessive runs through the twisties.

It is definatly worth the money IMO.
Shifting improved all around for me. I bought a longer piece of vacuum hose than came with the kit though. The one it comes with is adequate, but for $2.00 the installation is now completely invisible. Make sure you do a good job crimping and reconnecting the wires and stock resistor, I was getting a trans code on the OBDII because I dorked one of the splices up.

It is a10-20 minute install.

I used this procedure when setting up the SCSK. It sets the vacuum switch for open (firm shift) at nearly all times except idle, slight throttle and deceleration.

1. Install vacuum switch as described in the documentation. Route vacuum line , install switch, splice wires etc. Don't connect the fast-ons to the vacuum switch yet.
2. Connect an analog volt-ohm meter (VOM) to the switch, set to ohms.
3. Start engine and check VOM. It should show a closed circuit. (High vacuum condition)
4. Rev the engine and watch the VOM, at some point the vacuum will drop to where the switch opens (lower vacuum). This is when the firmer shifts will occur.
5. Adjust switch using allen wrench until the switch opens at a small amount of throttle. I prefer the switch opening earlier (higher vacuum), but you don't want it always open.
6. Connect the vacuum switch into the wire harness.
7. Enjoy.

I'll chime in and say I loved the shift kit on my old svx. it worked very well... soft shifts at idle and low throttle, and firm shifts at heavy throttle. it worked like a charm. I'll deff be getting another one for this svx.
