Significant Technical Input
This week's perspective

Here we are the winter of 2001 and high gas prices is the daily topic. In our area, regular gas is over $1.15 a gallon. Out of Cyber Space comes an E-mail that dares to compare gasoline prices to other products we use daily and think, not much about. So let’s take a look.

Diet Snapple - 16 oz for $1.29 = $10.32 a gallon

Lipton Iced Tea - 16 oz for $1.19 = $9.52 a gallon

Gatorade - 20 oz for $1.59 = $10.17 a gallon

Ocean Spray - 16 oz for $1.25 = $10.00 a gallon

STP brake fluid - 12 oz for $3.15 = $33.60 a gallon

Vick's Nyquil - 6 oz for $8.35 = $178.13 a gallon

Scope - 1.5 oz for $0.99 = $84.84 a gallon

White Out - .7 oz for $1.39 = $254.17 a gallon

Evian water - 9 oz for $1.49 = $21.19 a gallon

So next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on White Out! Okay so the report is interesting, but I am not worried about the WOPC (White Out Producing Companies) cutting back on production or raising their prices. The stuff won’t work in an engine and makes a mess of my monitor! Reference source: Not really sure, but reasonable enough to print.

Perhaps Vicks should consider a "Box-o-Nyquil," judging by the response here.

The rot-gut I drink runs about ten bucks a gallon. It makes a great after shave, but still too expensive to run the SVX on it.
Ron.

I'll take that Vic and up that

Any allergy suffer'ers here? Try NasalCrom. It used to be perscription. Now I have to buy it over the counter. Price $17 per .88 fl oz.

Now that's 64 ozs to Gal right? So.....$1,236.36 /gal.

Owch. And of course, the truth of the matter is that the stuff is 80% water! Ya sure its probably DI water but still!!

Dang those pharm. companies.....

let's just hope that my SVX doesn't develop a runny nose.

128 ozs/ gal = $2473/gal. Then again, do ya think you could run a gallon of that stuff through your head in one lifetime?

Fuelish question

While we are on the topic of high octane after shave....do Indy cars (CART-IRL) still run on methanol? What is the exact chemical composition of that? Alcohol and what? (Larry???) Not to be confused with ethanol of course. What kind of engine design is needed to run that stuff?

I watched the STP wedge turbine car run tire tests at Indy once. It was so quiet you could hear the suspension working! Whooshed by leaving a heat wave behind it. It used a helicopter turbine and ran on kerosene if I remember right. I think I remember reading that it could be tuned to run on anything from lighter fluid to perfume..Don

Jet Fuel

If I remember correctly, jet fuel is called JP-1 (at least one variety of it), and is basically high grade kersosene.
