SVX Babble

I have had my SVX almost a year now , drive it to work on dry days , still impressed with it. For a car that sat literally 3 1/2 to 4 years , I think I lucked out . About 1600 miles so far .Used cheap semi-metallic pads to clean the rusty rotors, after 3 oil changes , the engine fairly quiet ( I think I had a sticky lifter ) . Premium Sunoco , FI cleaner each fill , 2 fuel filters , seems to run well . Still needs lots of work , and at the point where I have to decide if I want a good driver, or over spend on all the cosmetics. Question for anyone- this car was originally FWD, converted to AWD ( have binding issues , but can avoid much of that by taking longer turn arches ) question : does not seem to want to rev higher than 4500 rpm or so , and I have not wanted to force the issue. Has the 4:41 gears . My normal driving , I not anywhere near redline . Just curious if this engine likes to rev.

Re: SVX Babble

Hi,

For normal driving (like "not exciting" normal driving) with the stock transmission, I don't see much above 4500rpms. Also above 4500rpm the EG33's torque starts to drop off. That said, I don't have any problems getting above 4500rpms for normal "exciting" driving.

Cheers,
Ian.

Re: SVX Babble

Ref: Binding

It could be the all wheel drive clutches caused by the car just sitting.

The typical "fix" is to take the car to an empty parking lot and drive tight figure 8s getting as close as you can to steering lock while accelerating to create torque.
After doing this for a reasonably long time it should free up the clutches.
