Rough stalling engine-How to proceed
Okay my SVX has been not running for about two months now. I bought a 4 runner as my daily driver and now want to get my sports car running. Initially my car started stalling out when driving it. The CEL code said the air flow meter and both oxygen sensors. I bought a used MAF online and noticed it had buildup on the wires. The inside was dusty and dirty as well. My car is a 95 and this used MAF was from a 92. I ran this 92 as I got it and it ran very rough. I cleaned it in the white vinegar and it ran much better but after not even two minutes it stalled again. I disconnected the negative terminal for at least 45 mins. after each installment. I noticed some cracks in the air intake boot. The big plastic piece the MAF slides into. I got another new intake boot installed it, checked all the hose connections I could see and have tried running both my original MAF and the used one I got and the car still stalls out and runs rough. My original 95 MAF runs rougher than the used one I got. I just tried it. It ran for less than two mins. and I didn't notice the CEL come on at all. I want to get another used MAF. I noticed Motorsport warehouse has them and they are supposedly tested. My question is does the subaru shop have diagnostic tools that can better pinpoint what is causing this problem. The guy I work with says I could have a multitude of potential issues that can cause this MAF code. I don't want to have bought two MAFs and the problem still exists. Should I get another maf or take it to the dealer? Could the computer be having issues? Sorry for the length of this and thanks in advance.
Mike

Sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak...
