looking for a compatable roof rack

Does anyone know of a rack that is compatable with the svx, ive seen pictures of racks on the svx but cant figure out the brand, any help would be greatly appreciated....

I just rolled 180k, ive had the car for 3 days now, and am in LOVE. what would a tranny rebuild cost me, or would it be better to just buy a new tranny???

Hi Adam -

Do a search on here for roof rack and a few threads should come up. If I remember right, there was only 1 or possibly 2 brands that made SVX compatible racks - neither of them the 2 common ones (Yakima, Thule).

One was Rolla(sp?) I'm pretty sure, and there may have been another. I'm also pretty sure both companies are either a)out of buisness or b)no longer have the SVX rack. As far as I know, the only way to get one is to happen upon a used one, very rare!

There have been some SVX owners that have put a fairly discreet hitch receiver under the back bumper, and then were able to use bike racks, etc that go in a receiver hitch (one actually even used the hitch to tow a motorcycle on a trailer cross country).

Like I said, do a search, I'm not totally up to date on the subject, maybe by now someone has figured a way to make the newer rack systems work.

BTW, welcome to the site and SVX ownership! If you are interested in meeting other owners and doing events, check out www.nwsvx.com

There's actually an event coming up next weekend that should be a lot of fun.

Rola racks are awesome. Sleek design. Looks like it made for the car.

If you buy the rola rack and need the bike attachments, let me know. I do not use mine any more since we got a trailer hitch put on the Forester. I still use the rack in the winter time for skis. Can't wait for the snow to try out my new lumber.

depends on what you are plan on putting on it! Yakima does make a rack that you can install on the svx, but I wouldn't put much more than 100 lbs on it. It is not the one you see on most cars, I'll have to look for the number, but it is out there. there are plenty of other makers out there that make similar ones too! Maybe the rolla is one, I'm not familiar with it. I'll look into it a bit more when my head isn't pounding soo hard... early night tonight!
