He's basically saying that he had two friends in Porsches following him and they confirmed his speed.

So he was 'measuring' his speed with his speedometer, which could be 10% off - as well as indirectly with two other speedometers, which could be 10% off. I have no experience with Porsches, but I have no reason to expect that their cars have speedometers which are more accurate than others.

Thanks for sharing your pictures, really. I like your silver SVX. I don't doubt that you went very fast in your car. What I do doubt is the accuracy of your 'measurement.' No offense intended.

Well, OK if you say so.

Of course, we have to take your word on the Drehzz...Drizal.., tacho reading, because we can't see if you are 3 or in D.

We will arrange an Autobahn shootout between you and Sonny, also known as SuperSonic. Not Hedgehog, not ammunition, not Porsche.

5500 engine RPM=7925 driveshaft RPM.
Whats the european final drive ratio. 3.90 or 3.70?
With stock tires (is 215/55/16 correct on a european 97?) and 3.9 that makes it 158.26681 MPH.
If it's 3.70, then the speed should be 166.82176 MPH.(268.41621KPH, by my calculator and conversion factor of 1m=1.609k)

Pretty gosh darn fast!

And if his tires are taller than 26.18" he's going faster still!

BTW, Thanks for sharing.

Cool

well.
the european final drive ratio is 3.70
the stock tires are 225/55/16.
and the chip tunig bring the car to ~ 240 ps.

but the high speed is not the most important for me.
it is the whole car.

have fun with the pictures

OOPs

When I checked the 215/55/16 chart, I must not have clicked it correctly.
215/55/16 is 25.37" tall, and 225/55/16 is 25.74" tall.
So if that was 5500RPM, 164.01804 MPH or 263.90502 KPH, UNLESS there is some tire expantion at speed, which could be.

Because here in the USA we are not allowed to drive anywhere neer those GLORIOUS SPEEDS>

Have fun, be safe, and welcome to the site. Tom

hey now don't go tearing apart my spelling. Also that was not a shot at the moderators, I was just making a jealous statement that we cannot go that fast without handing over our licenses. Sorry for the insult it was not meant that way

The speedometer is accurate to the RPM's in 4th gear (USDM anyway) with the TC locked

We can still make fun of your spelling, at least.

Anyway, I wouldn't trust a figure of 275kph for a couple reasons.

1. The speedo only read to 260. Beyond that, let's face it, is a guess.

2. Speedos aren't that accurate to begin with. They vary from car to car. If you figure his reads over by 10% (totally within reason), you get somewhere in the neighborhood of 155mph, which is about what you'd expect the top speed to be anyway. I wouldn't trust a speed figure unless it was confirmed by radar or GPS - and multiple times, at that.

I'd like to know why his signal is on, too. Hey, these couldn't just be symptoms of electrical problems, could they? Naaaahhhh...
Oh admit it Nick, you can't handle the fact that the Euro model is better that the US verson, has a better gear box and goes FASTER. Ask Sonny.

Harvey.

In fairness, Harvey, Sonny did his high speed run behind a Porsche, not in front of two!

I am deeply impressed.

Yeh the Porsche would move over and let Sonny past.

Very cool man. Just please stay safe.

Reminds me of the one time I went 160 in a camaro, and when I was done and realized how fast we went, I decided that it's plenty fast and probably too fast.

Anyway, still cool!!!
