Fuel Injector replacement TSB

Hey all ... I'm wondering if anyone has ever had the injectors replaced, as per the TSB at:
http://members.tripod.com/quick_svx/.../57923805.html
dealing with cold weather start problems? I know the previous owner of my car said she had problems starting when it was "really" cold, and I don't believe she ever had that done. Does anybody know if it actually helps? 6 new injectors plus install wouldn't be too cheap, but if it actually worked ...

Thoughts?

Significant Technical Input
Generally if there's a TSB issued for a problem like that it would be 'factory pay'. Stop by or call your dealer and give your VIN, they can look and find out if the upgrade was done to your car. If it hasn't been done yet you may have to demonstrate the problem and ride 'em a little bit to get it warranteed.

there's a brand new set of injectors on ebay right now - ends at 2PM - for $178 so far. (I'm also in on the bidding, but I'm not gonna go too high on this one so feel free to jump in)

Colin,
You might also check with SOA to see if the Eprom as been upgraded as per this TSB http://members.tripod.com/adm/popup/...9678a12729ca73

Mine has, and I've never had a problem with cold starts, and my poor baby is "garageless" all year.

Will the folks at 1-800 Subaru3 be able to see whether that mod has been done, or do I need to talk to the dealer where the car has been serviced?

I'm sure you Kentuckians get wussy winters anyway

I would think either would have access to the "Star" system. Take your pick.

GEEZ, it's freezin' up there! It's 58 here with the sun about to burn a hole in the back of my neck through the family room window!

Happy to help. Hope you can get it figured out. Oh, and use the excuse, "it's too hot to go to class." That should suffice.

Hmm ... talked to subaru today. Neither fix has been done but...

$800 for the new injectors + install (They want $110/injector, a bit more than subaruparts, though I'm not sure what they consider the complete injector VS subaruparts)

$200 for the rom chip, he wasn't sure what the labor on the install would be.

I think I can live with starting problems occasionally.

Thanks for the help all..

Sith,

Keep an eye out for injectors popping up on eBay. I've seen 4 sets auctioned off, all for $200 or less, in the past year.
