That's crazy.

I wouldn't be surpised if it was a photoshop though. As Porsches are rear engined cars, it'll be next to impossible to get one to stand on its nose like that - unless both front struts failed at exactly the same time, while braking for a sharp corner at the end of a 150+mph straight!

i think its for real - i zoomed in with Photochop to get a closer look and the sidewalls are wrinkling. also if he was landing from off a jump or hill the tires would just be out of round when hitting the grond, but the side walls have twist in them so he is obviously braking. see all the brake sponsor stickers on the car?

i think that's one of the reasons i'm looking to get an STi - the braking is phenominal. when i got the SVX, i had to completely adjust my driving after driving the 928. it didn't even have the Big Red "hand of God" brakes, but it would stop that 3500lb car like it hit a brick wall! imagine what the brakes are like on that 911 in the photo! big acceleration is fun, but handling and braking is equally as fun! i miss it.

60-0 braking distance :

Ferrari Enzo (109ft)
Saleen S7 (127ft)
McLaren F1 (125ft)
Subaru STi (114ft) not too shabby!

I saw a couple of mags that have gotten the Sti 60-0 in 111ft, but i also saw a mag that said the SVX can stop 60-0 in around 115ft not bad.

If you want to talk about braking distnaces, Autoweek got a 60-0 braking distance of 100ft for the Evo, and MotorTrend got 97ft for the new Viper SRT-10!

Either way, stopping distances of <120ft from 60ft are just phenomenal! I'm pretty sure an SVX with just performance pads (GreenStuff, Axxis semi-metallic, etc.) will stop in impressive distances as well...

wow, just looked up the 928 - 60-0 .....112ft for the GT! geez! the GTS had the "Big Reds", but i couldn't find braking specs for it.

all i could find for the SVX was 70-0......170ft. i'd be curious to see the 60-0 distance for comparisons sake. anyone with the Road&Track SVX guide......?

In this '92 Motortrend article...

They got a stopping distance of just 112ft!!!

'Motortrend Road Test - '92 SVX

-Chike

P.S. Of note, they also got a 67.8mph slalom. Acceleration times were lower than average with a 0-60 of 7.7 and a 1/4 of 15.7 @ 90.8mph.

I want my car to be able to do that mommy!!!

Seriously, you could win bets with that.

"Hey, wanna bet that I can get my rear wheels off the ground without hitting a jump?"

"No way, man. That would never happen, but If you want to lose some money, I'll bet that one."

"OK, here goes.

....VROOOOOOOOMMMMMM......SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ECCCCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHH.

"HOLY SUPER GLUE BATMAN, his rear wheels did come off the ground!!!"

"Pay up sucka...."

I'd be a rich man...
