Not to be OT

But I was just curious: is it necessary to buy both sections to get a nice sound, or can you use a different center section?

I hope it sounds as nice as you guys are saying, even though I ordered just the rear section.

I ran my car with just the stebro center pipe and it sounded like a Japanese motorcycle.

Well, its officially been 1 month, and no stebro. So, I just sent in my complaint to the Better Business Bureau of Canada . I tried calling Dan to let him know, but nobody picked up. I dont get it, I called monday he picked up and told me " it'll be there either wednesday or thurs" and that he "has a tracking number and to call him by 4 pm eastern", I call at 2:45 central and nobody picks up. I call tuesday and nobody picks up. I call Wednesday and Dan picks up and tells me he's at a meeting and says to call back 2:30 eastern. I call, and he says he's still at the meeting. I call again before 4 eastern, nobody picks up. I call today nobody picks up. WTF is up with this ****? I will call tommorrow but i know nobody will pick up on friday because I've tried calling on fridays before. DAMN, I knew I should of went with the Magnaflow!!!

I told you so ;)

Sorry Fait, just giving you a hard time. Told you that you should have gone with my new cat system though. You could be enjoying your ride right now. ThumperSVX is bringing his over saturday and we're going to take it by the shop and have it done.

If they're giving you invalid freight tracking numbers (my conclusion, based on your posts), then they're obviously blowing smoke about shipping goods that probably haven't even been fabricated. Y'all pay for these things up-front, I gather?

Why do business with a liar? What's so wonderful about this setup that you couldn't get something comparable at any good custom pipe or performance shop?

I guess it's the fact that they are a business with 50+ years of expierence. And, they make custom exhausts for ferrari and lamborghini. And, its a ss direct-replacement. As if any of that really matters at this point. This company seriously needs to relocate to the U.S. I can pretty much guarantee 98% of their business comes from the States. It'd help out alot, especially to people who are having my type of problem.

I understand your frustration, but what good will such a formal complaint do for you or the rest of us that one day want a Stebro?

So, it takes a little longer, so what he fudges the shipping dates because he didn't get the shop to build it when they thought they could or build it right the first time. Maybe he is a little OVER optimistic like some tend to be? Everyone seems to love the system, AND NO ONE HAS EVER SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T EVENTUALLY GET THEIR SYSTEM. Some, like you, said they had to wait.

Getting him pissed because you're pissed is not much to motivate him to continue building exhausts for the rest of the SVX owners that would like a Stebro in the future. Answering your calls doesn't make it any easier for him to make time to build it, and he is building it custom just for you. If you are a real pain in the a.., IT MAY EVEN TAKE LONGER!

If you are tired of waiting and you want to put on another system, I'll find someone to buy your Stebro when it finally arrives.

I'm not trying to be hard on you, or excusing his lack of sincere response, just suggesting you may want to consider what it takes from his perspective to stop building what they sell and make a living on just to build your SVX exhaust.

Sure thing

All 3 subaru cats are removed and the front two cats are replaced with two high flow cats from a 3.8 liter mustang (Kuo used them from a 5.0 liter and his exhaust flows a little better but is also a little louder)

A Y-pipe section is welded together in the place that the third cat was and then a 2 1/2" straight pipe is ran all the way back to the stock muffler.

Believe it or not the stock muffler is pretty good as far as flow goes. It keeps a nice stock (or rather close to stock) sound at idle but when you step on the gas it changes into an indy car. Its quite nice. You can cruise on the highway and have a nice quiet ride or you can get on it and sound like a race car.

The cost to have this done at my local shop (new cats, labor and everything included) came to $306. Kuo's was a little more, like $350 i think cause of the bigger cats. We've done this on 3 SVX's now and each time it came out great. Thumper will be #4.

In a previous thread i uploaded mp3's of what my exhaust sounds like. I don't know where that thread is though. Sorry. If you want to see pics of my exhaust they can be found in my locker.

Enjoy!

Cats

Ray,

I remember reading and seeing the pics. Couple of questions,

Did you buy new Ford cats or aftermarket?
Where and how much?
Only the aftermarket high-flow, or Ford's too?

Is the 3.8 Mustang a single exhaust with only one of those cats, and you used two of them?

Sorry if you already covered this. Might be interested in this for my car, and the Stebro for my son's car. Or maybe the 3.8 cats resonator and Stebro for his.

Also, Mychailo is up to something, studying the experts. Like to see what he comes up with.

You said three have done it and like it, and a fourth on the way. That is impressive! Maybe Subaru designed the muffler for a similar setup, but decided it wasn't what they wanted to sell.
