Not a 91... but I used to have a 96. Damned fine car... very reliable... more powerful than you might think and comfortable as all get out when you wanted to go on a long drive. Damn, I miss that car (was wrecked).
On the flip side... you think maintenance on the SVX is bad just wait until you see what a Saab will cost to repair!!!! Ack! |

My ex-girlfriend had a 1997 900SE turbo. Very quick....would eat the SVX from a standing start. Nice little car....fun to drive, great on the highway, quick, nimble, leather seats were very comfortable, auto AC worked great, but maintenance will get you. She took hers to a local garage and it was STILL expensive. The dealership I work at has a sister dealership that sells Saabs and they are always saying how expensive they are to maintain.

Look under the hood of those things. Icky. I feel dirty just thinking about 'em. Look where the transmission is. And the engine. They did what? Oh... Oh, no. They didn't. They did? Awww... What the...? Why the...? Ewwww.
Otherwise they're decent cars if you're filthy rich. |

hehe, yeah, i noticed the fact that its actually longitudenaly.. or.. (hah. yeah, whatever) set. front wheel drive. But shes definetly NOT filthy rich.. which is the problem i have with her buying it. its a convertible, she thinks its cute, and its in good shape. BUT, its still a saab. The Dealer/shop shes possible buyiing it from ONLY services saabs, and has quite a few parts cars, and some other parts connections, and they say its not going to be any more expensive than most other cars.. I personally don't think its a good idea.. but.. i think she fell in love with the car.. ehh, thanks for all the input

No, the transmission is, like, in front of the engine. (I guess that would technically make it a mid-engine car.)
I put a couple hundred miles a 9-3 convertible. It was a nice ride. The convertible top was noisy, which is perfectly normal, but I expected more from a Swedish car. It handled pretty well, and was quick. I put a few miles on a 900 turbo, and though it pretty much the same thing. The person who owned the 900 offered to sell it to me for $1000. They just dumped $2500 into it, part of which was for the second turbo they had to replace in two years. I said no. Not just no actually. I was a little more emphatic about my refusal, but I can't use those words here. Last edited by UberRoo; 07-05-2004 at 11:42 AM. |
