Question about brake fluid...

For those members that AutoX or race their SVXs, what brake fluid do you run?

My local autoparts store doesn't carry Motul, so I'm looking at Valvoline Synpower which has the following specs:

Boiling Pt: DRY:502F -- WET:343F

Would this be suitable for high performance 'weekend racing'?

That Pro Speed is some good stuff! However, my local Advanced Auto Parts/ Autozone don't carry it. What's the best over-the-counter BF available?

tancred,

I don't think Chike is referring to "street racing", but rather autocross and perhaps at a local track.

I agree that street racing is just plain dumb. Without even considering that one could kill themselves or someone else, around here, if a person is caught street racing, the car is impounded and you go to jail. Just not worth the risk....

Thumbs up

Thanks Lee! I'll go with the Valvoline Synpower...

Question: As I plan on putting in fresh brake fluid, will a 32oz bottle be enough?

Any Dot 3 or 4 brake fluid should be fine. I'd go with Valvoline Synpower b/c the price isn't outrageous, and its heat resistance specs are extremely good for the $$$!

I use Castrol GPX or something like that in my XT6 autoxer. Never had an issues autoxing and having fade with it but at the dragon it didn't perform all that well. Tough thing is as you get to the premium fluids they tend to absorb water quicker so you almost need to bleed the brakes every couple of weeks to keep 'em working good.
