Question Automatic Transmission Manual Completed....

well, completed as in all the basic parts are there. I consider this to be version 0.1. In printed size, its around 100 pages.

Note for dial-up users: broken into two PDF files its about 1.3 and 1.5 megabytes for sections 1 & 2 respectively.

Mods: Chris previously said it was OK to use the space for this project. I'm willing to have this moved to the How To section for all to use/reference - assuming there's a consensus it's worth being posted there.

As before, I don't believe I've committed a copyright violation as there were no trademark symbols or copyright notices on anything I used, but I'm also willing to mod the project, or pull the plug instantly, as I don't want the forum getting in hot water over something I didn't understand fully.

If you're interested I have put the files in my personal locker, and listed below are the links.

edit: changes made - see last post by me this thread

This was a fairly big project for me...If there's interest, I'll keep at it until at least version 1.0...feedback would be appreciated to keep me from getting too far out there. Also feedback on what else I should tackle would be nice.

Lee,

I just skimmed it. It looks like you did a great job. I will print it Monday at work then read it. I hope it's as good as it looks.

I am at home with dial up and when I get to work tomorrow, I will download it and move it to the How-To Locker. Let me know if you need anything else done. Thanks for your work. This is one of the things that makes this such a good site.

Well, I think I did say version 0.1.

I'm working on v0.2 now...in looking over the product, I never put in a section on reinstallation.

What an awesome doc, great work. I had searched a million links a way back and pieced together about a 100 pages of docs, but was missing many parts, and they were images. THX

If I remember correctly (haven't looked at this latest version yet), you used images from the service manual. Yes, that is a copyright violation even though the images themselves don't all have a copyright stamp on them. The whole book does, and I'm pretty sure it says 'not to be reproduced in part or in whole, etc...'

Will you get anybody in 'hot water' over it? I think it's doubtful. If Subaru ever found out, or even cared, I think the worst they'd do is say, 'take it off the site.'

But since they've never had a problem with (or never noticed) the SVX logo on our front page, and that's copyrighted, I think we're okay.

If you were selling it, then you would get in trouble. But because its free, and you are not causing any distress to any organization, then you will technically be left alone, as there would be no reason to pursue an action without a gain of some sort.

Actually I didn't use any pages from the service manual, I don't own one and have never even seen one.

The place from which I got the images thanked Subaru for the info, but did not include any reproduction notices, etc. I have the whole thing cover to cover and I did find a single TM symbol, copyright notice, etc.

I did not do a simple scan and post, some is derivative, some is original with me....So I pretty much did the same as they did, thanking them (its in the file), and Subaru in turn (ditto)...and gave some thanks to the forum & its members.

Violations of copyright can be serious and I sure wouldn't want the forum to suffer because of me doing something dumb.

The first part of section one captures the detail to perfection.
You get an A+ in Technical Writing from me, the + was because it wasn't at all dry.
