Back to the subject-

I heard an interesting suggestion- that the Democrats nominate as their representative George W. Bush.

There are already several precedents for parties nominating people outside their party, it would go a long way toward unifying the country, they would look like the self-sacrificing heroes come to unite the country, and they probably don't stand a snowball's chance anyway.

Unique!

Hmmmm...yeah, except GWB is a terrible blight that needs to be cut out of our country, but thats just my opinion. Why don't the Republicans just nominate John Kerry?

Why? So we can have higher taxes, more lax and loose cannons on the federal bench, a weaker global presence, and more gun laws? Anyone who looks to ted kennedy for insperation has no business being President in my view. And as for ted kennedy and his legislate the second amendment into oblivion, his car has killed more people then my handgun; 2-0!

NOTE ON UNITED STATES PRESIDENT:

It just doesn’t matter... IMO it is a much a more important decision as to who the local reps are. For example… your local school board (who is teaching your child?) , your local state houses (what local laws do you hate?), and your National Congressperson or Senator. The US pres. is going to be lambasted by approximately 50% of the population no matter what he does or says. Both Democrat and Republican Presidents have gotten us into and out of trouble. To say the one president or another is an idiot, stupid or hateful or just “wrong” is a refection of yourself, even if you didn’t vote for him (or her at some near point).

Disagree! That ‘s what this whole thing (the United States) is about. It would be a pretty boring world if everyone thought the same. But please have a rational logical reason for that disagreement. Not just that that one person (the president) made a mistake. The office is only as good as the information that it is fed. For example, it now seems that not only was the US, UK, and other countries misled about the WMD that Iraq might have had. Saddam may also have thought that he had them. Turns out that he had quite a few people taking money from him to develop these weapons that “knew” that he would never have a chance to use them … so they just lined their own pockets with the majority of the money. And used the rest to make Saddam (and maybe us??) think that production was proceeding. Now they are living quite happily in other countries… perhaps ever here in our land of the free…

These are my opinions based on news reports that I have heard on NPR and other (again in my opinion) non-mainstream news sources…

Dude, guess what- GWB gave back money THAT WE NEEDED. Wonder why we have the biggest deficit ever? I don't. By the way, John Kerry doesnt plan on adding tax back on the lower-middle class. He only plans on taxing the upper class. And personally, I don't see Teddy as my role model. I would like to see another Clinton-esqe president in the future.

Democrats and Republicans are both the same in my book. The budget will never be a pork free document. The deficit will never be paid off. Taxes will become higher and higher. They can't see the big picture and its sad.

BTW I am a Libertarian.

Also I am a lesbian trapped in a mans body so now I know why I like the Forester........

Without resorting to calling names or other behavior, maybe you could explain your love for clinton. He spent more tax money harrassing Bill Gates then he spent hunting down Osama Bin Laden after the 1993 WTC attacks, Kobahr Towers, African Embassy attacks, etc... Since many of my fellow Air Force personnel died in Kobar Towers maybe you can explain that logic. How about clinton's runaway "justice" department that never made any in roads in crime, but found time for Ruby Ridge and Waco. He rode a surging economy, that crashed BEFORE he left office. Then of course he pardoned a dirt ball like Rich. Of course he is also the only Federal Felon to be President, after being pardoned by Carter. I'm not saying Bush is perfect, but clinton?! Come on.

Clinton a felon pardoned by Carter? Can you go over this one again, a little slower, or with some reference proving this?

Holy crap! That thing was pretty much dead on!

1. Kerry
6. Dean
7. Lieberman
8. Bush

Which is more or less exactly my feelings.

Bush 100% Then Edwards and Kerry #3. Pretty cool. As for clinton, he was listed as "Federal Wanted" for not answering his lottory number for the draft. After being listed that for 6 months he became a fugitive of justice under federal law. He was later pardoned by then President Carter in 1977 as a political favor to the DNC. So in 100% TRUE factual info, clinton was the only federal fellon to be elected President.

here's a quote from a PBS archived source:

"Clinton has long acknowledged his opposition to the Vietnam war. As a Rhodes scholar in England, he helped organize an anti - war protest in November of 1969. But he has also said that it was his doubts about the morality of the war and the Selective Service system that led him to abandon the ROTC idea and to subject himself to a draft lottery. Only the luck of the draw - a high lottery number - kept him out."

Not sure where your data comes from...plus I was under the impression that a conviction was needed to be a felon.

BTW, Carter's most controversial pardon was of the WaterGate felon G Gordon Liddy.

I used the candidate matching site linked to earlier, and ended up with Kerry as a 100% match and Dean as 89%. I don't agree with this, but maybe what the site teaches me is that I need to understand my own priorities better. Either that or it confirms what I've always found - that there is no party for a conservative who wants to keep church and state separate.

Honestly, I don't like any of the candidates. None of them adequately speak for me. Last time around I voted for what I considered the lesser of two evils, so I imagine I'll be doing much the same this year.

Edit: I think it (the site) also fails me in another regard: it only accounts for campaign promises, not past decisions. On paper, I may agree pretty well with what Dean promises. But having lived in VT with Dean as governor, I don't like the policies that he creates. Maybe you're into socialism. I'm not. And for all the accusations from democrats that republicans are owned by big business, I'd like to hear an explanation for Vermont's 'commuter rail' debacle that doesn't involve big business lining campaign coffers.

Maybe those decisions would be the price I'd pay for having somebody in office who, supposedly, mostly agrees with me. I don't know. I guess that's the burden of being a voter - you takes your chances.

lee, I'll have to grab that letter again. According to it, which was from the Washington Post I believe, his number, 336 I think, was called. As for being a felon, no you don't need a conviction to be a fugitive from justice. Flight alone from jurisdiction is sufficient. I believe you can find that in 18 US Code under consolidated federal statutes. As for him "deciding" the war was immoral and failing to live up to the requirements of the selective service regulations, which he aknowledged by registering with selective service in the 1960's, he really didn't have that power. Alot of people didn't want to go to Vietnam, but unlike clinton, went. Morality didn't seem to bother him when he and his idiot sidekick les aspin decided to send troops to Somalia. Then failed to support them like they deserved. clinton went from one messed up military action to another. He ranks right up there with carter as being the worse thing to happen to the US Military since harry truman ruined them following WW2. That's when General Marshal told truman we weren't ready for Korea, but another democrat without a clue, sent thousands of troops off to war without proper training and support. The decimation of troop strength following Desert Storm under clinton was almost like the truman downsizing after WW2, but on a smaller scale. Except for Joe Lieberman, I have yet to see a Democrat that understood foriegn policy. That's why gore, another one without a clue, picked him for VP. There was also the nomination of a jewish VP to offset the news leak of continous anti-semetic remarks made by hilliary clinton. Verified by her buying off Hacidic Jews in her NY senate race in exchange for frederal pardons issued by her husband. She also recently made remarks about Arabs and gas stations, but being hilliary, it went away in the liberal media kinda quick. You can bet if Bush made a Arab-gas station comment it would linger for weeks.
