Aug/Sept tour meet?

Hey everyone! It was great seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones at the great Seafood meet. All that fun has me fired up for another meet already.

It might be too soon, but summer is unfortunately quickly on the way out, especially in the North Cascades, which was an idea Earl had thrown out.

The idea is basically now that we've all sat down and ate some delicious food together, checked out each others' cars, and had some great coversations, now is the time to get out there and DRIVE!

Earl and I talked and came up with a basic outline of a half-day tour route that would be incredibly scenic, give great public exposure to the cars, and have some great SVX driving conditions (ie lots of curves and nearly all hwy speeds). It would start in Burlington, WA and head east via the North Cascades Highway. Some of the most incredible scenery (and driving roads) in the Northwest. Once east of the mountains, we would head south until we joined up with Highway 2, which would take us back west of the mountains. Of course this route would require a stop in the famous Bavarian village of Leavenworth. Hwy 2 would lead us back west to I-5. If some of our friends from east of the mountains didn't want to come all the way over here and do the whole tour, we could certainly come up with a set schedule so they could coordinate a meeting place with us when we are on the east side. However, there may be some lodging options here on the west side for those that want to make a weekend of it from farther away.

Does this sound good to anyone else? If it is too soon, understandable. Either way there will most likely be a Fall Colors Tour 2 this October. Maybe even a holiday meet in the winter.

If you are game for this though, please post which Saturdays would be best for you. Please post ALL Saturdays in either Aug or Sept that you are 90% sure you can commit too, and then from that list we should be able to narrow it to one day that works for everyone. Depending on how much commitment we get, we can "soup this up" a little to into a bigger event.

For me it's on any given Saturday

I've no girlfriend (besides my car)

and most weekend I'm borded anyhow so I'm game. I'd go tomorrow if a trip was organized. Tonight I'm going to see Matt for a beer and I'm sure he'd be game too for a cool trip like that! How about next weekend guys? The 23rd? How many people do we have so far? Earl, Troy, me, and ... ? Maybe there is not enough exposure. We should start PM everybody!

I'll check with my GF, and post some Saturdays. A hint of camping was brought up, so we may attempt some of that aswell.

October is probably better for me. Too many birthdays in Sept.

Anyone playing in the Providence Health Systems Golf Tournament at the Reserve Vineyards next weekend? There are 576 entrants from all over the west coast so I figure there's a possibility.

At the moment, any weekend in Sept or October is possible for me. If its in October, I ought to have larger sway bars on my car for people to try out. :-))

I would say that we will probably have a meet in September and then again in Oct. It would be nice to have some sort of meet every two months or so. We can have a Hollow Weenie meet in Oct.

Yeah like Earl said, we could probably do a Sept and then a late Oct in addition. I think this Cascades tour really needs to happen in Sept at the latest because that North Cascades hwy gets so much snow it closes for the winter and we don't want to push too close to that time. Also, it would be nice to keep it within the boundaries of "summer" so there is good camping, BBQ, etc weather.
