CEL or MIL

Hello guys and gals, my CEL is illuminated I saw a thread on how to check. I took off the left side kick panel saw the two blue wires and tried both in the black connector. My question is are the OBDll cars different I have a 96 because the black connector notch up second pin from the top left is empty. Is there a different position I need to put it in? thanks for any help. Victor

You need a scanner to check your OBDII.

Aye, you need a scanner. I bought mine for $150 at a Murray's auto parts store, and it was worth every penny. Now, the only OBDII car I have is my wife's Legacy, but it sure is nice to have the car just tell me what's wrong with it instead of having to guess.
