rear wheel bearings

Hi

I'm about to change my rear wheel bearings and have a couple of questions for the experts:

1) Are these a 1 or 2 piece (inner and an outer) type of bearing?
2) Do I need a press to remove them?

3) Is there an upgrade bearing that fits ? I seem to remember something about a tapered WRX roller one being used with little difficulty.

Thanks for the input!!!!

Hey hotshoe,

its one bearing. But you need an inner and an outter seal. The bearing needs to be repacked with better grease. You might as well purchase a new wheel bearing housing to prevent any future cases of the problem.

Significant Technical Input
What's a wheel bearing housing? Why would he need one, if there were such a thing?

Hotshoe: Do a search and find volumes of info regarding the procedure. Yes, you do need a press of some sort. Some have bought a 'Hub Tamer', a tool specifically designed to do the job (about $250) others just trot the ass'y. down to the machine shop and have themm press the old out and the new back in.
