Question my stereo

My 1994 Subaru SVX has a problem with its cd player. While driving it shorts out or something and turns itself on almost magically interrupting the radio or tape player. It gets rather annoying. The weird thing is that the cd player portion of the stereo doesn't even work, so I can't play cds in the car which sucks. To me it doesnt make anysense that the player doesnt work but it turns itself on. Has anyone else experianced this or does anybody have any suggestions on what to do. Thanks.

Sounds like it's grounding out. Even my new kenwood had that problem and I couldn't figured out what it was at first. The issue is that there is VERY little room behind the stereo, and it can touch quite easily to some bare metal back there. I can't say I've even used my factory deck (as it was broken when I bought mine), but I would assume it's doing the same sort of thing.

CD-Player

Hello ckone!

My stock CD-Player gave up from one day to another.
Andy from UK had the same problem.
The reason why his cd-player didn't work, was some condensate on his lens.
He dried it out and it worked after that.
I think my Cd-Player has got an hair-crack somewhere.
So I am going to change my system now.
It's definitly too hard to find where the hair-crack is at.

Hope your problem is another "easier" one
