Nobody really thinks you "younger" guys are all that bad.
 It just seems that when some of them get a car like this, they don't really appreciate it and before a few months go by, the tranny is out and they are wondering why.  Keep yours running and have fun.

Agreed! It is not fair to blame it on age of owner. Some older guys let their stuff fall apart too. It is just that younger guys tend to drive their cars a lot harder than when they get older.
I wonder if I got out of that one ok?

then how do you explain svxfiles??
 Yes, younger people drive them harder on average... also, younger people cannot afford to fix the problems more often than not. I know I was ans sometimes still struggle with the cost of just parts... let alone labor Tom

also true about younger people having a harder time affording it. I honestly have to thank my dad for a lot. He's a master mechanic and even though he's 2000 miles away. He can teach me how to fix stuff over the phone and when I need parts he can order them for at huge discounts because he owns his own shop. It also helps having an extra SVX around for parts though I'd like to fix that one as well someday.
