$550 for brake pad replacements?

This guy sais its like 100$ for a set of two brake pads and 550 to replace all four. Can a sixteen year old do this instead for just the cost of the brakepads? Are there any cheap brake upgrades worth getting for our car? like stainless steal breaklines?

Pretty straighforward job. Does the price include resurfacing all of the rotors and bleeding the entire system (including the ABS box)?

Changing pads alone, is EASY. And you can do it yourself. I did mine, on my own, without direction the first time.

This sounds like the same guy who was selling goldfish, 2 for a quarter or 4 for a dollar! Either you misunderstood his estimate or the guy's math is way off base. Any shop manual for the SVX will include a how-to section for a basic brake job. Its not a slam-dunk but neither is it rocket science.

What kind of pads do you guys recommend that will fit? My front rotors are supposedly somewhat thin, the things that clamp on the disc are gummed up, and the hydrolics supposedly are out on one wheel. Also, there is a crack in one of my wheels which i guess i need to find an extra. What is the cost of a big brake kit and real rotors that will last long long time?

Svxfiles has a big brake kit available for the roundabouts of what your paying for this "mechanic" to fix your brakes. His upgrade, to my knowlage, consists of 13 inch rotors and a caliper bracket, to relocate the stock calipers to the correct location. Id pm him on that one though, afterall, its his kit
On the downside, youll need to get 17 inch wheels, but if you need new wheels anyway, you midaswell knock it all out at once
