Black '94 LSi Stolen

My Black '94 SVX LSi was stolen this weekend. I don't know if I can put out an APB (All Points Bulletin) thru the network but I'd really like to get my car back!

Does anyone have any suggestions?? The plate number is Washington 049TMZ. I have already filed a police report. It was stolen in the Mukilteo area sometime between Friday night and Early Monday morning.

Let me know if anybody has any ideas or sees my car.

Thanks, Mikey

I am sorry to hear that. This is a good thing to do - let us know and we can watch for it. I hope you get it back. Let us know if you hear anything.

Thanks, Earl!

Do you (or anybody) know what happens to stolen SVX's? They are a relatively rare car so I figure they should be easier than most to track down. (At least that's what I hope!)

Do most stolen SVX's end up found or do they part them out?? Just curious if anybody in the Network has seen a pattern.

The only pattern on the ones I know about would be that someone took a joy ride and they find them. They don't find them very fast, but they seem to find them after awhile. Which is a good thing.

Or they get stolen for a quick getaway car in the midst of a crime spree (while on live TV), which usually results in them being returned very quickly (albeit with some damage).

My car has been stolen twice and each time it was clearly for "joy rides". The first time it took almost 4 weeks to find it but this last time it as located in a couple of days. I don't think they are parted out because they don't share any parts with cars that the street racers like to use and I can't think any thief would plan on trying to keep the car because they are so rare. The good news is the police do seem to be serious about doing more to address the car theft problem in the greater Seattle area. Problem is about all they can do is find your car for you. The laws are so lame that there is now real legal consequence to stealing a car. You have to be caught "in the act". Being found with a stolen car seems to have no real downside other than they take it from you and you have to find a ride to where ever you are going. So one funny thing this last time mine was stolen is that there was a dispossable camera in the car and all but one of the shots was used. I'm going to get it developed and maybe I'll see just what the jerk that took it looks like.

Yeah - Seattle laws are useless at preventing car theft, especially if it's a kid who stole it.

That camera thing is funny, I'd be curious what pictures are on it too!

Mikey - I sure hope you get your car back, and that it's not too hurt.

The good news:

I got a call from the Everett police about 10 PM on Saturday night. My car had been found in Howarth Park in Everett. It was impounded, so I couldn't look at it til this morning. No major exterior damage, but lots of little dings and some damage to the front and rear bumpers. The engine compartment looked good, but I couldn't start the car so I'm hoping for the best. It had alot of mud on the lower body so I hope it didn't go off road.

The bad news:

The left rear quarter window was broken to gain entry to the car. Before the guy broke the window, it looks like he tried to use a knife to try to unlatch the door lock so the door seal and panel on the inside of the door frame are ruined. The ignition lock was punched and the molding around the steering column was shattered. The console near the gear selector now has some deep scratches and the rear part of the console is loose like someone kicked it hard. The backs to the bucket seats have been gouged and cut as well as the rear side panels. The rear spoiler was removed and the interior panels of the trunk trashed. The spare tire, tool kit and jack were removed and the panel covering the spare busted in two. My emergency start battery and a bag of detailing stuff like window cleaner, polishing compound, wax are gone. The sunroof of course was left open in the rain so the interior is also all wet!!

The police say the car was probably used as the transport vehicle for a series of burglaries. It looks like some big and heavy items were put in the trunk and back seat. Multiple cell phones, binoculars, plastic gloves, a portable CD player, a CD wallet, a 50+ foot pneumatic hose, a 4 inch grinder, a sander, a florescent work light, a halogen light and two emergency exit signs (still sealed in original boxes) were left in the car.

It also looks like the slob was living out of the car. So the the car was full of crap like french fries, half eaten hamburgers, pastry, clothes, shoes, pop cans, paper cups, etc. I filled 3 large kitchen sized garbage bags full of just the crap the guy left in the car.

So I have the car back, but there's extensive interior damage. The insurance company has assigned the car to a shop to estimate the damage. I haven't meet with the guys at the repair shop yet, so I hope I get my 94 LSi back in good shape. I'm hoping I won't have a battle with the insurance company.

Anybody missing any tools or selling a steering column assembly, a spoiler and a tan interior?? Let me know.

Mike

Wink What a pain for you

I am so sorry to hear of all the damage done to your baby. I hope your insurance is good to you. I live in the Seattle area myself. I'm hoping it doesn't become the cool car to steal. I'm buying a club. I might use it on some one. Again I am really sorry

wow, there seems to be alot of theft up in the NW. does insurance pay for damages when a stolen vehicle is recovered? sounds like you're going to need to spend some $$$ on repairs.
