Rear strut springs

I may seem a little bit strange but i am looking to higher my car's rear end by highering the springs. You will tell me that doing this will cause the car getting instable over curves and high speeds, but the thing is that my stuts are hard like they are welded to the chassis and a little lift won't be that bad for the overall looks of the car. I was wondering, can anyone guide me to certain springs to do that? any other manufacturer's can be fitted?

If your car is sitting at stock ride height, there is no need to lift the rear of the car. Lifting the rear of the car will not stabilize the handling. The problem is that the OEM springs are very soft. Stiffer springs will stabilize the car if there are no other problems with your suspension.

I am not looking to stabilize my car, but rather to lift it up in the back just to make the car look even on a perfect horizontal street. the svx's end is lower than it's front... the work i did on the stuts is more than great, the car seems like welded to the wheels rather than sitting on stuts...
ok, does anyone have a loose spring for the SVX? can he please give me the dimensions of its lower diameter (from edge to edge), the upper diameter (also from edge to edge) and it's height? anyone?

Danny,
The best solution here is to lower the front end, not raise the back end. What Mychailo said is 100% right. There are at least two established sources of springs that will lower the front end - Mychailo and Dayle (I've got Mychailo's springs all around on my car - check my locker for pictures of the ride height now).

If the rear of your car is sitting very low, chances are that you have added some weight to the rear of the car. That wing? Stereo equipment in the trunk? Other stuff in the trunk? It doesn't take much because the springs are so soft. If you have added weight to the rear, then you will need a stiffer spring in the rear. If you want a good overall look, you'll want to lower the front a bit too.

The SVX strut springs are not simple coil springs. A few basic dimensions will not suffice to make/find a substitute spring. If you want a custom ride height to suit your needs, I can provide you up with a set of springs. Click on the link in my signature for info.

no, I need to lift the back, not lower the front... over here we have a bumpy road, i have already broken one of my skirts on a bump... i need to lift the back a little bit... i wish roads were good overhere, lots of rocks, and holes.... i don't wanna break the rear bumper.... so you see? i wish i can lower the front, i would have a nice low rider

What are the condition of your strut mounts? If they get old & rust they could cause the rear to droop a little. Mabey a new set would give you the additional lift you're looking for. You can check them by sticking your hand up under the rear quarter. There is also available coil spring helpers, they spread appart the coils to give additional lift. I personally wouldn't use them but if they were necessary.

This first is stock/rusted, the second is stock/new.

Cool. I had seen the effects of collapsed rear strut mounts, but I hadn't seen an actual collapsed mount.

was a neat pic

I'm curious, what is the effect - strut breaks through the back window, body drags on ground...?

Worst case scenario is that the mount totally disintegrates, and the spring rests against the top of the strut mount well. The car would sit about 3" lower in the rear.

Looks to me that your tires/wheels are too wide or the wrong offset. Even if you bottom out, the tires should not rub. Also, a camber adjustment kit for the rear would help.

hehehe, no buddy, before the painjob, I asked the guy to push the fenders above the wheels a little bit to the outside... so i was able to fit 8.5 wheels instead of 7.5 ... fits perfectly!!

as for the mounts, they are still new, i checked... the coils are good, so...
I really need the stock dimensions, to the coils so that i can get longer ones... the bottom diameter, the upper diameter and the lengh... anyone?
