One way to test it would be to make a post with a curseword on each line. Write everyone you can think of and see what it looks like after you've posted.

I've noticed that too, in one post Mike had to go back and edit out the curses. Maybe they think we've grown up enough to converse without profanity.

I believe that there should be words added to the censorship function. It allows the "poop" word, but dashes out the "female dog" word. There are more offensive words that should be added, in my opinion.

Rather than trying to censor people with software, can't we simply ask them to be a little more polite when speaking in a public forum?

how about one of us write a polite translator for public forums. it would be like that l33t/aol chat translator thing.
something like 'go to hell' would come out 'have a nice day' and 'you ulgy <female dog>' would come out 'you beautiful swan'. would be kinda funny to see the input and the output of someone's statements .

As Randy indicated, many have attempted to "suggest" that profanity not be used, some continue to use such words, because they don't know better words OR they think they are cute OR they want to be hurtful to others OR they think it makes them appear more macho. The fact is, the words a person uses strongly suggests the type of person they are. "nuf said!

The other thing that has not been mentioned is that some have censored their own words. They simply typed the word using the * key to hide some letters. So poop would be typed as p**p. As some have mentioned before, some just don't care or have the vocabulary to use nice words instead. This has been billed as a family site before, but some have decided that their trash talk is still rated G. I know, it is sad.
