Brake Bleeding
No bandaid jokes please
Anybody know how to depressurize the ABS system so I can bleed the brakes? My XT is stopping much better than the SVX is now.

Do a search on a recent thread started by Rob (Chicane) and there's a link to PDF copies of the manual (sorry can't remember which forum member was kind enough to put them on his server). The file is almost a megabyte in size so I hope you have a high speed connection.
Anyway, I think the answer is that the bleeding sequence starts out with bleeding the two spots on the ABS unit itself first before going to the wheels. As an aside, I am "blessed" with a pretty low wattage bulb inside my head. I wondered about the deteriorating performance of my brakes right up to the point that the right front rubber hose started spewing out brake fluid every time I stepped on the brake pedal. Hopefully you have more common sense than me and have already considered the age of your lines. |

There are two bleeder valves on the ABS box under the hood that you have to use. Let me know if the referenced thread still doesn't do it for you = I'll get the '92 shop manual out of my car's trunk and type in the bleeding sequence.
