Seriously? John Day is a nice guy, but I usually had bad luck with Garcia. I'd always schedule an 8:00 appointment to have my car checked out whenever it needed checking...bearings, belts, whatever. Then I'd go off to work. I don't think they actually got around to working on my car before 2 or 3 pm on any day. That's 6 hours it just sat there. I was under the impression that scheduling an appointment meant that they would at least LOOK at the car at that time. The worst was when John told me they'd extract a sheared off bolt for $140 by the end of the day. Ended up being $350 and I didn't get it till the following afternoon. I haven't been back since. Anyway, it was the only convenient one for me. I would personally try Galles, but the price may be higher.

ECU and Fuses Diagrams for Troubleshooting

I don't know what year your SVX is, but as for a 92, here are the diagrams for the ECU from Alldata .....if you need help reading them just ask and I'll interpret them for you

ECU Pinout Reference

ECU Troubleshooting Reference - 1 of 2

ECU Troubleshooting Reference 2 of 2

Basic ECU Systems Schematic

Advanced ECU Wiring Diagram 1 of 4

Advanced ECU Wiring Diagram 2 of 4

Advanced ECU Wiring Diagram 3 of 4

Advanced ECU Wiring Diagram 4 of 4

Fuse Locations - 1 of 2

Fuse Locations - 2 of 2

Fuses - What they Control - 1 of 2

Fuses - What they Control - 2 of 2

You can try the dealer but who knows - they might be excited to work on it because ....well its turbo ....or they can just say "we're not touching it" .............either way - I think they'll definitely hand you an inflated bill.

Have you tried a speed shop? I know where I work (www.autotoys2000.com) we would gladly troubleshoot ANY electrical problem for practically free - unless it's taking more than an hour. You really can't beat free troubleshooting ....plus we'll fix it.

Good luck!! You've come this far - dammed ECU

I think that going to the dealership is a great idea. They do know their subarus and they won't screw anything else up.

I recommend Galles and Davis and ask for John Keifer. He knows me well, I have forked over a lot of money to him.

Even if they are expensive they'll definitely fix whatever's wrong.

That's until they see the custom turbo setup... A lot of dealers will either turn it down or claim some limitations as to what they can diagnose or do.

I'm sure if it's a younger tech he probably won't have a problem with it. (Unless his supervisor's looking over his shoulder)

Yeah, can't wait to hear more about your first impressions as you start taking the car out for drives! If you have a g-tech (or access to one) it'll be cool to see some performance results!

Congrats on having the first intercooled turbo'd SVX with a 5spd!

ok mine is 94-L FWD (like it said at the bottom of my post i have my bio on the car there -lol-) it has the 3.3 (heard some of the early 91/92's had a 2.7 H-6 is that why the early ones can fit a turbo...cuz i swear there doesn't look like enough room... and about the DEALER guys... your right I am in sales and the service advisors work on commision and once they get an idea of what your willing to spend to get something done they usually come in a above that -lol- so I suggest (being from the car business) find a shop who is knowledgable, honest, and one YOU feel ok with.

None of the SVX's came with a 2.7L. The SVX's predecessor, the XT6 came with a 2.7L.
