I believe the 2006 STi wheels are 17" x 7.5", have a 114.3mm bolt circle and a 56.1mm center bore. This should be identical to the SVX.

Therefore if I tell Tire Tack I want the Palladio's for this particular car, I am assuming there should be no problem with getting the wheels or the correct hub rings.

So what size tire will I need to go up to to keep the same rolling diameter and the speedometer fairly accurate?

I am currently running the Toyo Proxes4 in the stock 225/50R16 size. The closest I could find in the Toyo Proxes4 is 225/45ZR17. The difference in diameter between these and stock is .2" more in overall diameter and 7 revolutions less per mile. Is this acceptable or is there a better size? Here is their spec sheet:

I finally got a call back from Rudy at the Tire Rack. He referred my question to their Technical Department to find out why, with the stock STi wheels and the Palladio wheels having the same dimensions, they were not listed as fitting the STi.

They said these wheels would NOT fit the STi, because that particular offset (+48mm), along with the shape of the spokes, would rub against the caliper (STi), which are larger 4-piston units.

He didn't tell me how much more clearance I would need, so I don't know if they would fit our SVX (smaller calipers). He doesn't recommend spacers.

I wonder if grinding away a small portion of the SVX caliper would be advisable...

those guys ALWAYS go by the book...
if its not a slam dunk sure thing they will
always advise against it...
just to cover their butt.

As for grinding some on the caliper, Ive done it
on numerous cars over the yrs.
As long as we are only talking a few mm in the thicker
areas I dont see it being a problem. And then again
you may not need to.
They sell some nice 3mm aluminum spacers too that would
also probably work.

John,
I like the rims! They look great!! Just have some good-looking rotors behind them!!

BTW, the hub-centric rings are VERY essential if you want a goo balance. No matter how good your lug nuts are, they will NEVER perfectly center the wheel correctly.

Buy them!!

Harry,

I'm glad you like them. I have the Raceconcepts slotted/dimpled rotors and painted calipers already, but they are hidden behind the stock wheels. I may have the calipers sprayed Polo Green and then clear powdercoated overtop.

Talked to Tire rack again. They won't even recommend these wheels for the '06 STi, because even though the wheel offset is correct, they say the bigger calipers would rub on the back of the wheel.

Since our calipers are not as large, I wonder just how much more clearance I would need to clear the caliper. I could use a 2-3mm aluminum spacer (which moves the entire wheel out even more), grind some of the offending material off of the stock caliper casting, or a combination of the two.

So far I have not received a reply to my emails from OZ or Elite One.

I guess I could just order one wheel from Tire Rack and test fit to see just what the problems would be and go from there.

I don't like the Alessio esmeraldo wheels. Too many spokes, rather cluttered and it looks too heavy in the center. All I see are the lug nuts. A 5-spoke wheel seems to suit it better and open it up.

I am still trying to obtain the OZ Racing Palladio wheels for my 96 SVX. Tire Rack will not sell them to me because they say they don't fit.

I asked them if they fit the 2006 STi (since it uses the same bolt pattern and centerbore). Once again they said "no" because the shape of the spokes will not clear the (larger) caliper. The STi calipers are much bigger than our stock ones.

I want to get back to them again with specific measurements. So I need to know the following:

What is the measurement from the mounting face of the rotor hub (front and rear)
AND the very edge of the face of the caliper?

I need to know just how much space I would need so that the caliper would not contact the spokes when the wheel is mounted.

If I can get this measurement, I can probably have them figure out how close it is. I could then either grind off part of the caliper casting or just add a small spacer between the rotor and the wheel.

Can you find any shops selling this set of wheels nearby your house? You might as well drive and ask them to put on your SVX and check. You might save more energy and time...

I have yet to find anyone in the US with these wheels except Tire Rack. I found a lot odf sites in the UK that ship internationally, but offer the Palladio's as part of a Tire/wheel package only.
.

I may just have to bite the bullet and have Tire Rack send me ONE wheel with the correct hub ring and see just what the clearance is, front and rear. If it doesn't work, I'll just return it.

If I can't return it, I'll use it as a coffee table base and put a round glass top on it.
