Nice choice! Geez, sounds alot like my '96 Polo Green with 80,000 Kilometers (that's 50,000 miles for you Yanks) up here in Edmonton Alberta. Anyway, I've got VIN # 795 and it continues to be a great ride.

I took it down to Brakeshoe I last weekend. It felt great, but at the same time it felt strange not to drive a pearlie to the meet. On our countryside tour on Saturday it was equally strange not to have a pearlie in the lineup. Finally rufus showed up on Sunday with his, so a pearl-less meet was avoided.
If we have a bad winter and things get slippery, I may leave the polo green parked safely at home and let the pearlie be the sacrificial lamb for any potential accident.

My Polo: ALMOST 4 YEARS LATER
I can't believe its been almost four years since I picked up my 96 Polo. When I got her she only had 44,000 miles and now she is approaching 98,000.
In all that time I didn't have any good photos in my locker. So today, after washing her, I took a few photos with my new digital camera. They are in my locker now. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/user.php?svxcess|37574 I still am looking for a unique set of 17" wheels to set it off. I still like the OZ Palladio wheels (on my other thread), but the Speed Mashi wheels that Dayle has interest me too. They have that JDM Alcyone S4-BBS look. I will have to do something soon since I will be getting new tires before winter. On the other hand , I can't believe how good the powdercoated wheels look after all this time. I originally had them done for my 92 Pearlie, so they have almost 5 years on them and no flaking, chips, discoloration or wear. I still have that lifetime warranty from Transwheel. And in case I make the switchover, I have three members who have already contacted me about buying my "old" wheels. .

I had (car sold) the Speed Mashi's for the JDM Alcyone look also. Check my locker for how they look on Emerald Pearl. Am seriously thinking about another set for Liquid Silver.

The Speedy Mashi (called the spyder on their website) come in both 17"x7" and 17"x8"
I there a preference as to which one I should get? I believe the offset is 42mm. Gene, which one did you have and what size tires did you run? Any problems with them? On an anal side note, I have to find a way to get rid of the logo on the center cap. The word "Speedy" surounded by the words "Engineering Excellence" "Innovation and Style" has to go. I have to fabricate a smooth center cap to put the SVX logo on. .

Wow, the "mashis" look just like the TSW Hockenheim Rs I just bought to use as race rims for my 275/45s. They're 16" rims, 9" wide with 38mm offset. I'm going to have to "tweak" the sheetmetal to prevent tire rub -- the inside surface is almost dead on to what my RX-7 rims/245/45 set up is, the outside surface is going to be ~1 inch further outboard. I'll post pictures as soon as I've got the 275s mounted. -Bill

Additional wheel and tires: Input appreciated
Another wheel I am considering, similar to the Speedy Mashi, is the TSW Kyalami $161.00 each with free shipping
 ..................................TSW KYALAMI  .........................SPEEDY MASHI SPYDER This wheel comes in bright silver with a machined lip or with a darker, hyper-silver center. The major differences between the Kyalama and the Mashi are the concealed lug nuts and the lack of allen bolts around the rim. Here is the question: It comes in two sizes: 17"x7" wheel with a 42mm offset 17x8" with a 40mm offset Any advantage/disadvantage to either width, considering the offset?
