Need a hot water boiler

The heating system in my house is on the way out. I have Natural Gas hot water baseboard heat using a boiler style furnace . Question is does anyone have suggestions as to what I should look for and what a replacement would cost. I live in a cold area, I need 125,000 btu output. I heat water with a hot water heater. The boiler is for home heat only. If you have done it recently this would be a great help as to how you did it.

Re: Need a hot water boiler

!. Check rebates available from the gas company.
2. Condensing type are the most efficient, but are more complex, will require more maintenance-these are the ones rebates are available for usually.
3. Get as many quotes from reputable sources as possible, it is not unusual to see a large difference in quotes.
4. If your hot water heater is old, may be time to upgrade to remote tank run from new boiler.
5. My personal favorite is the Buderus line, but only if you find a vendor who has been selling and servicing them for years. These are high priced units.

Looking at a Wels Meclain. Yes the boiler is at least 50 years old. I have a 40 gal hot water heater.
