Re: That's one expensive SVX...
He's going to be sitting on that for a looooong time- I like how the price is firm. The double KBB price is firm .

Re: That's one expensive SVX...
he probably spent a crapload of money on it and wants to get some of it back, like that's ever going to happen.

True... his asking price is a bit of a pipe dream... but KBB really doesn't apply to these types of situations. They are out of the market and have a collectible status. So he will get what the "market" will bear. I bought #2 SVX (a red 1997 LSi with 33,000 miles) for $7700 last year. More than the KBB but a bargain as far as I'm concerned. Now it has around 40k miles and is going in for a full spa treatment over the next 6 months. I have my list. Low miles but still 13 years old! it's funny but they are out there. Some folks bought these cars and saw something special in them... like other cherished cars that are polished and pampered in garages over the years! (Porsche, BMW, Alfa, Maserati) The SVX is of them! More so than other Japanese cars. |

Re: That's one expensive SVX...
It's probably worth it if you liked that color and wanted a low mileage example, and had a **** load of disposable income.

Re: That's one expensive SVX...
Or expect it to become a lucrative collector's item and have some storage space.

I was just telling my girlfriend over the weekend that I've never seen a car worth more than $10,000 (we were watching Barrett Jackson). Sure, there are exotics and classics that sell for over one hundred times that amount, but none would be worth more than 10K to me. That's what reliable transportation costs, and rarely any more. As long as there are still fools who think otherwise, then there will always be a steady stream of used cars for me to choose from within that range. I certainly don't want to discourage anyone from picking up a 2011 STI sedan, because that might be my car in another ten years. Cars are for transportation, and in my experience that's worth about $10K. Anything you spend over that will be the price of comfort, status, or out of a misguided idea of investment. Spend whatever you want for your car, but you'd be hard pressed to convince me that this SVX is worth $14K (and I love SVXs).

Re: That's one expensive SVX...
Still... almost any new car costs at least two times what this great SVX will cost, and when you get to where you are going, you will still be rested from the drive.

Re: That's one expensive SVX...
Take it from a guy that always seems to have and or find super low mileage cars, KKB NEVER takes into account those types. Dealers def don't, until they try to re-sale. As stated above, its worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
