Okay Ron a couple of Applied Model Codes for Canadian cars

94 LSI CXWCY7E
96 LSI CXWEY7E

Seems to fall in place, "Y" for North America. So it would appear that the Option Code or Trim Code would be different for the heated seat and Daytime Running Lights.

More seriously, IF WE UNDERSTOOD AND LISTED the following, wouldn't APPLIED MODEL, OPTION CODE, TRIM CODE, COLOR CODE, ENGINE TYPE, TRANSMISSION TYPE, and then, MANUFACTURE DATE tell us EVERYTHING WE NEED TO KNOW?

I would be happy to register my cars by providing the complete list above !
Would that be enough information?

Yes Ron, that is all I was asking for.

Thanks Peter,
I thought 'Y' might cover America and Canada, thanks for confirming my hunch

For comparison, what are the OPTION CODES on the strut tower for both cars?

Based on Joe's Trim Registration form, the per year Registration form, and thoughts in this thread, I submitted a revised Registration form, 1992 Thread, for the JDM SVXs, with all the information needed to really compare the world markets.

Please review, and see if any info was omitted that could be used in our research and in your data files.

Peter
Well, that's not all

Joe already beat me to the punch, a long time ago, in the Trim Registration thread. I'm late to the party

Here, we have ABCDEF relating to 92,93,94,95,96,97, a good observation.

Joe found the same thing on TRIM CODE, the first number of 220, the number 2 correlates to 1992, 320, the 3 is 1993, etc. There were certainly updates, even if not obvious, to trim each model year.

So, using the APPLIED MODEL and the TRIM CODE; we can categorize the SVX to model years, regardless of intended world market or first registration, just the Subaru did.

Joe really got this whole thing going. His thread was brilliant, more than timely, HIS THREAD WAS STARTED MORE THAN TWO YEARS AGO, AND REMAINS ACTIVE TODAY!

So, let's get the data, let's become the authority on SVXs

And also the paint code?

My 92's both have 2 as the first digit of the paint code. My 94 has 4.

Dan,
Your paint code is 406, your trim 220?

EDIT DEC 2010: While the database Dan linked shows the interior as 220, Dan has just sent a pic of the trim tag, marked as 420. That number fits the pattern, black interior, 94 production.

This is what I know so far, check above.

I also heard that the dealership in Leb imported 23 SVXi between the years 92 and 93. Never imported 94 and above. But this is just a rumor.
I don't know if Syria did import this car, I know Jordan did tho but no additional info about this.

I also knew from Chris, the manufacturer of the Poly bushings, that he got an order for ALGERIA for an SVX. I bet the owner of this car is reading this board but not registering on it. The order he received was after we opened this subject here.

Algeria is in NORTH Africa... and I asked Chris to ask that owner to contact me, but he never did.

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced?

Dan,

Your car is interesting, appears outside the standards.
Green glass is UV resistant and heat resistant, perfect for your part of the world.

As far as I understand, on JDM models, Green glass was installed on all Version-E, all Version-L, and Silver colored S4.

Be sure to collect and correct the strut tower plate info when you get home

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced? Correction:

Let's think of the APPLIED MODEL CODE, AMC, as the genetic code

Here is what we have so far for WORLD-MARKET DNA:

CXW*2*E: RHD; Japan
CXW*E*R,S: LHD; Gulf region [GCC]
CXW*K*E: RHD; United Kingdom
CXW*L*E: LHD; EURO [France, Swiss, Paraguay, Levant (Lebanon)]
CXW*U*E: RHD; [AU, NZ]
CXW*Y*E: LHD; North America [US, CDN]

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced?

Ron et al

I have moved this thread to Registration. It is very important. As well as being full of WIN! as already noted.

To hark back to the issues of VINs I want to add some extra detail on that.

The Applied Model Code, the AMC, while it is a very good birth certificate giving detail of the intended market, the year, and trim/options/equipment, this information alone is not enough for the Registry. I'll explain why.

The VIN number is unique to each vehicle. However, because there were a number of production sequences, then we will find in fact that there is more than one SVX carrying the identifier CXW-002345 for example. There is probably one of these in the US, one in Japan, one in Australia and probably one in Europe. For the Network to register a car and uniquely identify it as being a vehicle "known to the SVX World Network" we need the whole VIN to keep this record in place.

A long time ago I myself voiced the same view that it was unsafe to publish full VINs. Most pooh poohed the idea, but some are as paranoid as me about it.

The Registration database, the main spreadsheet with all these records on board, that record is absolutely confidential and the Network will never publish or distribute this record because we have to remain within data protection guidelines for all legislations where owners reside. This is an onerous responsibility but we abide by it for the protection of our members.

The rationale for Registration is obvious; the Network can provide members with documentation that their vehicle is a "known" vehicle to the SVX club, and this documentation is an aid to verifying that the car is cherished and is worthy of classic or collectible status.
