Svx Models, How Many Produced?

When discussing threads like, Who has the Lowest, Who has the Highest, or when discussing COLLECTOR STATUS, VALUE, etc., etc., SVX are typically classified to production date, to model year, version, or to registration date. When considering world-wide production, each of these methods ultimately fails to accurately describe the vehicle.

For example, when Imprezas are discussed, a WRX is not a STI, a STI not a WRX, even though both are Impreza, perhaps of the same year and color. The value and desirability are different. The MODELS are significantly different, apples and oranges. The value is different, etc.
Same with the SVX .

To appropriately list, value, and catagorize SVX, the APPLIED MODEL NUMBER is the appropriate description of the vehicle .
The option code should also be listed and factored .
Joe has a master list of paint codes, (and trim codes?)

We should now become more familiar with the various PRODUCTION MODELS and OPTION CODES worldwide. We should list, evalute, value, catagorize the SVX accordingly.

Let's begin HERE to properly catagorize our years/models/codes, filling in the blanks for PRODUCTION MODELS and OPTION CODES around the globe. For option codes, let's list only options, options are specs ABOVE AND BEYOND the base equipment. Base equipment can be described under APPLIED MODEL.

US-APPLIED MODELS could also associate 'production year', 92, 93, 94, 95etc. if APPLIED MODEL is the same for more than one production/certification year.

JDM-production should associate MODEL/SPEC, not year, (Version E, Version L, S40, S40II, S3, S4). The last Version L was sold in 1996, even though all production was between Sept 91 and Sept 92. This same fact applies to Euro cars, many sold much later than production/certification.

The information collected here may be reformatted here to make inputting data easier, and put to a spread sheet as data comes available.

So, let's begin with these SIX APPLIED MODELS:

-CXWAY7E [applied model]
LHD US 92 LS-L

XR [option code]

-CX?

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced?

Joe,

How many different APPLIED MODELS are now known, total?

Per YOUR thread, it looks like we are well on the way to collecting this data,
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=44145

If you wish to post the collection form here, or merge this thread to that one, fine by me.
I'm after the complete worldwide list, prioritized by the SVX WORLD NETWORK MEMBERS, according to spec.

This to further the work you and Earl have done in collecting information, data, etc. toward recognition, value, collector status, etc.

Joe has posted a pic, UK MODEL: CXWBK7E, so, the total with Dan's submission is at least 10, that without FWD, and various Euro, AU, Etc.

Have all the characters in the Applied Model been deceiphered?

With a master list of APPLIED MODELS, we can set a priority list for models WorldWide according to spec, and then we can argue how to value and prioritize each Model according to base specs

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced?

Wow great info Phil!

Around my area there are two models I know about:

CXWTE & CXWBL. So far I think the CXWTE is the model which was for the Gulf region (UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait) whereas the CXWBL is for the Levant region (Leb, Syria & Jordan).

Because of the rarity of these models, I don't think any info can be retrieved in this regard.

This is an excellent plan and approach. The short answer to your question is I don't know.

We don't have a reference chart such as supplied by Paddles and Phil for the JDM market. The hope was we would get this information as people volunteered the codes, then we could draw conclusions. Unfortunately not enough gave the info so we could make safe deductions from it.

Earl worked at listing it. I myself did very little on it because I was stressed by work at the time. That has all changed recently of course.

We will have a look at the main chart and at least see if we can draw up a list purely of model codes. It will be fraught with difficulty, not least because we know some detail on certain cars in certain countries, but we may not actually know the country of original market in 100% of cases. This is important, because the Model Code as a reference code relates to certain markets for which the cars were built.

Interesting gaps in the production dates on those charts. My car was built in 4/91 and a quick glance at the '94 Registration thread shows a few built in 1/94. I wonder what the sources for these stats are.

I would speculate the gaps are when the production lines were turned over for foreign export production of the SVX.

Kit,
That chart is JDM RHD production only, nothing to do with US production.

Re: Svx Models, How Many Produced?

The CXD listed in the chart is Version-L, you have seen two of these

The CXW listed in the chart refers to the other JDM versions:
Version-E, S40, S40II, S3 and S4

Well, that's logical. I guess with that in mind, a JDM '93 might be the rarest of them all. I really didn't think they'd shut down the lines for 3/4 of the year.

In Japan, the SVX was sold more as a model, not a year, but there are clear dates of when models were available, as noted on jams webpage, which was downloaded to our net.

When the SVX was introduced, it was available in Version-E (economy?) and Version-L (luxury?)

Later, as demand quickly declined worldwide, the S40 [300 units], the S40II [300], the S3 [500], and the full-on S4 [800].
