my hoodscoop is actually functional.

i say, skip the rice and buy an iPhone and other shiny bling. then when something breaks on your car and you can't afford to fix it, you can play music, or call someone to tell them your story.

To purchase, $150ish. To install, more.. lol, I'm not 100% on that but OT has very decent rates so it's not terrible at all..

I agree. Forget mods. If you intend to keep your SVX you WILL need that money later (and I don't mean for pointless alterations). Start a savings account. Make monthly deposits, as much as you can afford. Seriously.

Exactly. I did that for 4 years, and I found out I applied for financial aid too late, my savings bailed me out as I had enough money to cut a tuition check for the semester.

Although I am broke now, at least I was able to finish my last semester to graduate... even though I still havent found a real job yet

Re: Need opinions for mods..

Your all right. I'd love to put it someplace where I could make deposits but now withdraw unless I had permission or only on a scheduled time or something but the reason I only made the two options is because I would like to help Tom out by tossing some of my cash his way. I'm not saying he's broke but I'm sure he could need it, we all could..

Re: Need opinions for mods..

Freeman,

I too have come into some money, but the economy is tough. Jobs are scarce and gas is going back up. I wanted to use my money for mods too, but unfortunately the economy doesn't want that.

If I were you If you don't have a lot of extra, save it in a money market or short term certificate because you wanted constant access to it. It is a good idea to buy into the market and into housing right now.

That's what I'm doing, unfortunately I'm waiting a bit longer to purchase my suspension and hydra because I only have the Navy reserves right now and don't make nearly enough per month to live on and not cut into my savings.

So it's not financially responsible for me to buy what I wanted right now. So I'm waiting it sucks! I know! But if you do have enough to be ok I'd go for exhaust.

I too want the scooped hood, which is not entirely functional like a wrx or legacy gt hood because they are slamming air into a top mount but it does provide functionality with our motor because it cools a very warm engine. This accompanied by phenolic spacers has helped bobby to make a significantly cooler motor.

This is why I'm going to do it, because when I turbo I'm going front mount, so it would still not help very much besides keeping a cooler motor which makes it more efficient. So yes, it is functional, just not quite as functional as the WRX's.

Don't be discouraged by the cynics, there are others out there that like the look and aren't uber ricers. I too think it looks good. It gives it a more aggressive look.

So to sum it up, if you've got extra do the full exhaust first and the hood later. trust me you won't regret it. I have a similar exhaust to what you are thinking of doing at it sounds amazing!

Many people tell me my svx sounds like a ferrari or a formula1 racer. That's more respected than an aggressive hood! plus it was a kick in the pants the first time I drove it after it was done.

If you are on the lower amount of money my suggestion is to put your money into a money market or certificate account where you'll make double if not triple the percentage of just a regular savings account.
