I dont see them to be difficult to work on. I have swapped wheels on both my alfas many times and never had problem with them. They come with a centering pin on the hub in place and u will have a lining screw in ur tool kit. Just put the lining screw in the diagonal hole of the centering pin and there ya go put on the wheel and tighten the lugnuts. Isn't it easy?? This way you dont damage the threads on the lug nuts (like you usually do with other cars with studs).

I've swapped wheels on GTIs several times and a large amount of my friends have Euros and have no gripes. But what I have learned is jackasses with airguns will F-up the hub. I had to chase threads in my friend's GTI. 80ft/lb isn't a tough torque to break.

No, weird is when you go get a speedometer cable for one, and the guy comes out and takes the two foot long cable out of the box and says "That can't be right, Vanagons have the engine in the back" and before you can tell him the speedometer is driven off the left front hub, he's in the back digging for the "Right" cable As for the tool, Snap-on sells them, they're basically a long bolt in the correct thread pitch, with the head chopped off, and the rest chromed, for $39.95...

Yeah, but Snap-On sells like 3 different ones, depending on which thread pitch you need. And I can't remember the last time I saw an Alfa Romeo in the junkyard around here.. There's a 164, at least I think it's a 164, in Albany that I see driving every now and again but I don't think he'd be giving up his tool kit :-P
