Mystery cars

What other (semi-affordable) cars besides the svx have you rarely seen but often wonder what the hell it was, what's under the hood, how it drives, etc. for me, the bmw 850ci's have always been a mystery. Just recently I looked them up and found they have twice as many cylinders as an svx. A bit out of a normal guy's price range, but I love them.. seen two in my life.

An XT..... (SUPER affordable) and still has people scratching thier heads as to "What is it"...

But they are an aquired taste....people either love them, or hate them...

I get as many people asking me about the Plymouth Arrow I drive, as they do about the SVX.

I love both, and the Arrow is my third one now.

Owned a 1976 2.0 Litre 5 Speed, 1979 Fire Arrow {2.6 Litre Hemi 5 Speed}, and now the lesser model 1980 2.0 Litre Auto.
So, on that one, I got the First, Last, and Premium.

This 26 year old car still gets 35 MPG!!!!!!!!!!

wow, my parents had an Arrow back in the day. i remember the "Fire Arrow" - a somewhat sportier model. looks like 0-60 on it was 9.6 sec! we've come a long way in the horsepower wars, and i'm happy about that.

it seems all my cars have been oddballs -
Porsche 928, i was asked if it was a new Boxster, rear-engined, air-cooled, etc. not too many people knew what the hell it was.

the winter support vehicle for the 928 was a Buick Lesabre T-Type. "that's turbocharged, right?" "no, its slow."

and of course, the SVX. "turbo?" "custom windows?" etc.

+1 for the XT/XT6

for a car I've never owned that was always a mystery to me whenever I saw it in my younger days - Studebaker Avanti.

I always liked the Studebaker Avanti, Supercharged, 149 mph. Also the other blown versions like the Silver, and Golden Hawk models.

Nice

Very nice rides Landshark.

Thanks for the shot of the Fire Arrow.
And, yes it was fast for its day. I used to race it at Pecan Park Rd, just outside of Jacksonville Fl.
Left it there in 89 after 10 years of some of the hardest I have dared to run any car.

Many good memories.

My other car is a 928, I love it to pieces, which it is in pieces right now, in the middle of an engine rebuild.
Everyone loves it, it gets noticed a little more than my SVX.
I have raced the 2 of them, the 928 won.
Hopefully that will change someday.

Any of the Bertone Volvos with the chopped top look of the 240 series, and they can swallow a V8

those are known as the "phonedial" wheels. not sure what year those were out, but probably on the early 928's from 1977-early 80's(?)

they were also used on the 924's and 944's.

There was this white coupe that looked sort of like a smaller rounded out cross between a Chevy Lebaron and Buick Lesabre around my grandfather's neighborhood. It turned out to be a 1990-93 Oldsmobile Toronado, oh yea another big WTF moment was seeing for the first parked outside an autobody place and then finding out more about the Buick Grand National.

Yes they are the stock rims. I absolutely loved those on the car. She is a 1982.
If you ever deside to get one, make sure it has been well taken care of w/all service records, or it will cost you a whole lot of $$$$.
