Alan go for the STi. My neighbor has one and i get to drive it every once in a while. It has everything you could want. Your gonna need snow tires though as the summer ones provided suck major donkey nuts in the snow. The car is awesome...you would be addicted to redlining it..that exhaust is addictive. Gotta love Turbo

I like the Legacy GT. The perfect solution is a Legacy STi with the sportshift auto. Hope it comes here. I like Subaru now, but I'm really beginning to hate the "new" look. Thought about the Nissan Altima SE-R? I really like that one in red!

All you have to do is keep it Zymoled and just wipe it down with a microfiber towel or one of those "California car duster" thingys. I haven't washed my T/A in two weeks. I just go over it with Microfiber every two days or so...takes a whole five minutes. OH BOY.

Love the FMIC stuffed into the opened-up front bumper. Not much sleeper left in that FXT. I'm sure every punk in an SRt4 or Honda wants to race that thing.

LAZY - yes, sort of.

as far as your technique, i ain't believin' it. when i do my car its wash, dry, apply paint cleaner, remove paint cleaner, apply glaze, remove glaze, apply wax, remove wax. when i'm done i could beat the **** out of Mr. Miyagi. that's how you make a black car look nice....and it lasts about a week. if it rains, then you are going over the entire car with detail spray or you have water spots. i didn't just get off the boat - my last three cars were black. i know the process. there's nothing worse than a crappy-looking black car.

on the silver WRX, i may do this once a year, and the rest of the time its Zip Wax. i could probably just hose it down and it would look clean. no swirl marks - ever.

besides, i LIKE the STi in silver.

Ok, if you want the detailed process, here it is.

Wash thoroughly (this is the most important and most overlooked step).

Dry thoroughly

Apply cleaner polish (only once a year if you take care of your paint).

Apply Zymol (once a month, or stretch it to every other if your lazy). Mist the finish with distilled water after you are done waxing...then just wipe the water off carefully...this does amazing things for the depth of the finish.

I wash about once a week, under normal weather conditions (i.e. when there's some rain), so for the three weeks a month that I am not zymoling, I use Eagle One's "Wipe & Shine" detailing spray. This is not the wax, it's an alcohol-based glaze. It goes on just like windex...takes ten relaxing minutes to do the entire car.

With that regimen, dust/pollen/airborne dirt just wipe right off the car. For crappy rain-applied dirt, a real quick wash will make the car look like you spent hours on it.

I personally enjoy all this cleaning...gives me an excuse to spend time with the car, without having to put miles on it.

I don't like Silver anymore because EVERYONE has it.

are you a Zymol salesman? i prefer 3M Imperial Hand Glaze and Meguiar's Deep Crystal wax.

i enjoy detailing, not putting on, and taking off car paint products.

anyways, back to the subject at hand.....
i found from browsing LegacyGT.com that JL Audio has a device coming out soon called the Clean Sweep that allows aux inputs, etc. to a factory radio. so i could use my 40gig MP3 player and powered sub at least.....also, someone is making replicas of the big $$$ JDM sport grilles (i hate that chrome crap.) so maybe the Legacy gained a few points.

i still really want the STi.....and the wife still doesn't. my pimp hand isn't as strong as it used to be.

i like the stock ones better. that would be one thing i wouldn't need to change on a Legacy GT. if i got an STi, those multispokes would have to go - i'm a 5-spoke kinda guy. i guess i would break even after selling the stockers, though.

don't get me wrong, i like the stock ones too. i prefer simple wheels with a lot of substance. i love the oem svx wheel, plus its directional.

God damn those SSR Comps look badass on the Legacy. I'd go a hair bigger though.

went to the Subaru dealer with teh Mrs. Shark to test drive the Leg GT......and they wouldn't give me the time of day! they were 2 salespeople with customers, and no one bothered to even say, "i'll be with you in a minute", or "i'm sorry, we're busy right now , but i can help you soon as i'm done". they could have potentially lost a $30k sale, dumbasses. i guess business is that good? going to the other dealer tomorrow.

we wandered around and sat in all the cars. Mrs. Shark likes the Hyundai Tuscon, which was in the showroom adjacent to the Subaru showroom. i must admit, its a nice little Ute. but its MY turn for teh new car HAHAHA!!!
