Where have all the SoBes gone???

I don't know what the deal is, but a few weeks after I started buying those chocolate milk Sobes I decided to start cap collecting.
You know the caps with all the weird goo phrases on them.

So yeah not but a few days after every store in town ran out of stock.

So I waited a while.

Kept checking everywhere in town. No bones. No dice.

No Love Bus Brew.

Where the heck is it?

I think someone drank it all and all that's left is Yoohoo and Nestle quick :/

The US gubment sorta banned ephedra. I haven't really read too much about it, but everything containing anything that even resembles ephedra is gone.

It's a total pain in the ass - you have to ask a pharmacist for cold remedies that contain pseudoephedrine, for crying out loud.

Next we're going to restrict sales of drinking water to minors to prevent water intoxication. .

I wonder if this is in any way related to the large ephedrine bust last year.

Pseudoephedrine is a major component of methamphetamine -- this crap is dangerous and is getting more and more prevalent. If having to ask at the counter for my cold medicine will help stop the production of this crap, I'm all for it.

It won't. But that's just my opinion. It'll still be easy enough to get ahold of. All we do by trying to inhibit the abusers is inhibiting ourselves.

Either way, the motivation for the change in regulations is, as I understand it, due to the few heart attacks that have resulted - mostly through misuse - from ephedrine-containing products. If people are going to be stupid and kill themselves by washing down a bottle of GNC-brand ephedra with Mountain Dew, I suppose banning the straight up stimulant is one thing. Fine, it's not safe. But restricting sales of cold medicine pisses me off.

I don't mind asking the pharmacist for sudafed, but it becomes a slightly bigger hassle when I need it at midnight.

Perhaps if you had a stepson that had been addicted to the crap, it might change your view. Maybe not. With me, it's personal.

In the hope of curtailing the local manufacture of "crank," the county in which I live has restricted the sale of medications containing pseudoephedrine to over-the-counter only. Retailers affected: One.

Conveniently (for those inclined to cook this vile stuff), the town in which I work--which is located fully within the aforementioned county--has no such prohibition and hosts dozens of stores at which such meds can be purchased right off the shelf.

I remember when my Mom had to buy my plastic model cement, because stores stopped selling it to minors. Of course, the huffers just moved on to spray paint and gasoline.

I know someone (uncomfortably close) who can't kick that junk. It's evil. I also remember a couple of folks who drank themselves out of jobs and families, right into graves. I didn't wish to make light of the problem, only to illustrate how tough is it to curtail substance abuse by regulating substances.
