Cars under $7000

Well Boys (girls) i have some sad news again.....

1. Me and the girlfriends reunion didnt last...we split again but im ok with that...but she did take the SVX...

2. I sold My Talon. Kinda buggered up the rear end hittin a curb and well i didnt want to put the money into it so its gone.

3. I got T-Boned in my Honda (CRX) on Sunday. $3000 worth of damage so I figure its cooked. The insurance will total it out.

Which leads into my question....

Whats a good Car under the $7000 range? I really have no preference right now and open for suggestions It doesnt have to be fast or corner extremely well but these would be pluses. The car has to be good looking though. Thats the only thing i really am being picky about. ( no suggestions of Cavaliers Kias or Escorts please) And it has to be BLACK. So start the debate.. Oh yeah i would like to try to get into a little larger car than the CRX too. and lets try to be original as everyone in my town has a modified this or that so if anyone has any wierd or odd ideas im up to it!

PAUL!

Have I got the car for you! It's black, unique looking, larger than a CRX, handles well & is pretty fast. It's called an SVX & I'll let it go for $6,999.99, which is $499.99 more than I paid for it, but it now has a custom cupholder.
I'm sure the drool has covered your shoes.
Ron.

I'm partial to the second-gen RX-7, but that might not be your taste. It's cheap to buy, and cheap to fix though.

Good to see you again, Paul.

I got my 94 L for 5300 out the door -- without tax, 4800. You CAN find a SVX if you try. Want me to look around for one? otherwise, Look for a Honda prelude with 4WS -- Yes Four WHEEL STEERING

I've had a few 2nd gens and let me tell you, they aren't cheap to fix. few know exactly how to work on them, and mazda parts are Expensive. Not to mention how rare a decent one is, they always seem to have some sort of problem.

A very good friend of mine has a 3rd gen. I dont believe its ever needed any work other than oil changes.

one of my frens had the similar experience. but it's cheap to buy not cheap to fix. he bought his 2nd gens rx-7 w/ 59K auto for about $2k. the exterior body looks okay. he just drove for a week then the engine broke. not many pple knew how to work on it and he gave up that. his rotary engine's died at 59K!! i felt sad for him. after saving some money, he later bought a same yr older audi for $1.5K w/ 194K on the clock. now the audi is clocking over 200K!! it's some probs but still running okay. sooner or later, he will throw away his 2nd gens rx-7(white). anyone if likes to have the body can PM me. i may talk to him about that.

if you want, i believe you can find quite a decent '92 or up SVX with your price or maybe can save $1k for maintenance. (but who knows about the tranny?) i paid mine $1k more than up to your range and one more week getting to 4 mths. i've seen no reason i'll let it go also with the price. and, it's not black but teal.

BUT, i've a nice shiny BLACK car up for sale!!
it's a 4dr sedan(shiny pure black + brown tinted glass)-
'94 nis altima ( 5 spd ) w/ 70K on the clock.
i want about $4200 obo. car is in good condition and
really to go anywhere. i use synthetic blend & oil change on time.
comments: of course bigger than a CRX. interior is spacious. ride is comfortable, powerful (150hp/low-end 155torque w/ 2800lbs body), smooth and quiet. 0-60mph is 8 secs or slightly lower. max speed can go more than 120++mph. gas mileage is great 26city/35highway(i can't believe that's higher than factory calculations). this car is pretty good looking & a good daily beater though. this is a reliable car and i see no reasons it'll have any major prob within a couple of yrs. and, you save up couple thousand dollars for modications or other purposes. if you're interested in my black car or anyone out here can PM here or email me at sssvx@yahoo.com we can talk 'bout the details. good days.

Nice to see you're still around.

Defy the crowd. Buy a Toyota Tacoma pickup. Should be able to pick up a four or five year old model for about that price.

I now drive a Tacoma.... it is my second Tacoma and third Toyota Truck..... plain and simple, they rule! (As far as pick-ups go, at least)

Of course, I wouldn't ever consider "dropping" a truck, it's a truck. If anybody is curious, you cna check out my Taco here.... http://home.earthlink.net/~tat2skullz/pics.htm

Good luck Paul, but trust me, get a 4X4 V6, lift it, supercharge it, and you'll be thrilled. I haven't S/C'd mine yet, but I have been in a few S/C'd Tacos, and they are very fast! And the best part? It is a TRD supercharger, fully covered under Toyota's warranty!

I drove a Toyota pickup for about five years. It the first vehicle I owned and it did, in fact, rule.

I rolled it about a year after I got my license. The right side of the body, the front left suspension and many other parts had to be replaced. The frame was bent. After it was put back together, and after my parents let me have the keys again, I drove that thing offroad frequently.

The 22R-E engine may be the most reliable I4 ever. I only needed to replace the alternator over the five years I abused that truck, but no actual engine components.

I would like another Toyota pickup some day. I have nothing but respect for them. Rednecks in Fords and GMs will snicker at the lack of engine displacement, but they just don't know what they're missing.
