also dont forget the gaskets. they come separate. my entire underbody is covered in oil from a leaky pump.
I've only had the water pump on for a few months, but no more than I drive my SVX, the rebuilt one should last forever

And Lee, Yeah it was easy for me to say he..he...but really, the SVX is about the easiest t-belt to change there is.

I didn't think about the gaskets for my oil pump....Mike, you reading this? if so send me the gaskets for that oil pump when it ships

SVX oil pump gaskets? There are none. except for the o-ring. If the pump housing is not sealed to the engine block it will leak. I recommend Permatex harding type.

Unhappy worse news :(

well guys, it's even worse. They got the water pump and timing belt in, but they've now noticed that all 5 pulleys are bad. The rubber has melted off of all 5, and said that they all need replacing. This adds another $600 to the bill, but said that no additional labor is needed since they had to pull the pulleys already. They're not even sure yet if there might be engine damage to the gaskets. So this makes the bill around $1300. What am i to do? Ask them to just take the car and sell it to them? I'm just a college student, didn't think it would be costing this much..... Ugg.....

jsvxstyle hooked me up with some new pulleys, at about half the cost from Subaru, the exact same pulleys, just not through the dealer, so PM him to check on them, and ask him about the other items you need, as he's much cheaper than the dealers cost.

ack no no no!
cleeeeaaan them. mine were covered with burnt rubber and i was going to grind it off, rendering them useless. however there is a solution you can dip them in to make the rubber fall right off. brake cleaner or something related to castrol super clean. ill try to find out soon. actually im not sure if i can. i just asked the guy that did it and he said he doesnt know. try various things.
replacing them should be a last resort. im sure they are still round and probably spin. if not, replace them.
