Re: The wife has discovered performance

John,
Just take your time and find that "just right" SVX for her. If she's happy, you're happy - right??

Re: The wife has discovered performance

Please test drive that 2011 legacy on a windy day on the highway before she falls in love with it.

I have a 2011 legacy 6 speed base model I got on a lease deal.

The thing is too damn tall, it is a sail on the highway.
Not joking, this car gets blown all over the damn highway in a crosswind.
There are times I feel like I have to fight the damn car to stay in the lane.

I have never felt afraid of being next to a 18 wheeler until I got this legacy.
Seriously, the draft from the driving in the lane next to a semi makes you have to constantly correct the steering wheel.
If you were to let go the wheel, the trucks draft would push you into another lane.

Another VERY annoying thing with my legacy..
If you happen to roll down just one of the back windows at highway speeds with the front windows closed, be ready for extreme buffeting.
It is stupid pressure levels, it actually hurts my ears, and I have 2 10's subs in my svx... so whats that tell ya.

I am really kicking myself for not grabbing that used 2005 Legacy GT they had in the lot instead...

No, it's still being made. Known since 2010 as the Legacy 2.5GT Limited.

Pretty much the same specs as the car formerly known as the Legacy spec-B., which was discontinued in 2009.

Yesterday I was in Jade.
A 162k 1992 SVX with Koni's,
400/300 QA1 springs,
all of the Poly bushings,
and "in Garage" alignment with 0.15° front camber,
and 0.20° rear negative camber,
0 toe.
Ran her up to 86MPH, on the highway,
ran kinda hard on some back roads, and it SURE felt PLANTED!

Also very neutral,
maybe a little under-steer.

Re: The wife has discovered performance

New Legacy is too damn tall.

When it comes to how fast I can throw it through a corner without it feeling really scary..
My 92 svx with shot struts and mounts and disintegrated bushings handles better than my 2011 legacy.

When I drive the legacy, I feel very disconnected from the road.
It feels like I am driving in a bubble. Everything is too soft.
If I toss it around a 90º turn at 30mph, you can feel it want to roll over.
It is scary, its all understeer and wants to just plow and roll.

Basically, Doing this in the legacy at 30mph would more than likely land me on the sidewalk:

My 05 LGT was also all over the road at highway speeds (although i imagine the newer one is even worse), until i put performance springs on it.
