That ignorance right there should earn them an ass whoopin'!!! Anyone that knows the least bit about the EG33 knows that it is a Non-interferance engine... Now the WRX on the other hand is an interferrance engine... That's probably what he thought that ya ment about which car SVX or WRX.....EJ series motors are interferance engines.... EG series is non-interferance engines...!!! Tell them to go back to Tech school!!!!

Not all EJ series engines are interference type. I think the 2.5 liter became an interference-type engine after a design change, but I think most if not all of the EJ18 and EJ22 engines were non-interference. I know my 95 EJ18 is non-interference.

Alot of books will say that possible damage could accure by piston contact, just to cover their ass. As far as I know and have heard the EG33 is a noniterference motor. I know the phase 1 2.5L were, and probly the EJ 20's, but I think all the others are non-interferance too. So there really shouldn't be any damage to the motor from the belt jumping time.

The SVX pistons should never touch the valves in situations like this. Now if there was a way for both the intake and exhaust valves to be fully open at the same time they would touch and cause damage.

Not likely as for the valves to hit each other the metal gears that keep the cams in time would have to get chewed up.

I have had the tensioner pulley on my Justy loosen off. What a horrible noise!! I thought the crankshaft snapped! We realigned the belt and tightened the pulley good this time and all was well.

I have no explanation as to the lack of oil.

ok well i had the guy call my lawyer and they are trying to b/s around so i had the car towed to a mechanic friend of my fathers and he is going to tear it apart to see what the damage is inside and then from there i'll know whats going on and what caused the damage...They are saying it sounds like something came into contact with the piston...
