Knock Sensor - Code #22
I've been fighting an issue of a rough idle after warm up. I jumped the ECU and it told me that it was the driver side O2 sensor. I replaced it and reset the ECU. When I test drove the car the idle was still rough (less so than before, admittedly) and it threw another CEL during the test drive. I jumped it again and now its reading fault code 22, which according to the manual is "knock sensor or circuit". First of all, what does this mean? Which knock sensor is it? Driver side or passenger side?
So, I assume I have to replace the knock sensors. I searched on the boards and I could not find a "step by step". I don't even know where these sensors are, I do know that I will most likely have to pull the intake plenium and alternator. Does anyone have anything or know some resource that I can use to replace these sensors? Otherwise its $600 at the dealer with a Subie mechanic that is vaguely familiar with the SVX Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Humblest Regards, Yoshi

Re: Knock Sensor - Code #22
Thanks guys,
I think I will get a new one since I would imagine that anything that has made its way to the bone yard in the form of an SVX is probably in pretty bad shape. I think someone said that he was able to find them for $50 at Autozone. Chris, I can always count on you for some help!! What exactly do you mean by "decent tools"? I have some decent tools but mostly crappy ones since I am a cheapskate The other problem is, I don't even know what the hell I am looking for! Does anyone have a picture of where the knock sensors are? Or what they are supposed to look like on the SVX engine? Is there a resource that I can go to? Many Thanks, Yoshi

Re: Knock Sensor - Code #22
I believe 2, one for each bank. #22 is the passenger bank one. From what ive seen they attach with only one bolt, and with some decent tools, I doubt having to pull the intake manifold is necessary. Im sure you can find a junkyard one in decent condition, or check in the "parts for sale" section.
