dead svx

My '94 died on me last weekend. I made a short drive and about three miles from home the car started making a whining noise, related to engine speed, that seemed to emanate from the passenger footwell. I got it home, where it died in the driveway. Battery's good but the panel lights won't even illuminate. My local shop is mystified and can't help me. I love my car---twenty years together----but I have no idea what to do. Anybody have any ideas? We've had some pretty severe electrical problems in the past and I'm somewhat certain this is an extension of that. I'd appreciate your help.

Re: dead svx

I would try to check the error code to give me an idea about the possible problems.

Re: dead svx

I'm guessing the water pump seized...., new water pump, and new Timing belt will get it back on the road if that's the case...
